Just wanting to look her finest was the goal for this young woman, Kailee Jones. However, after a technology graduate from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania visited a cosmetic surgeon for lip fillers, she looked like a character from a Disney-Pixar film after suffering an extreme allergic reaction to the substances in the lip fillers themselves. Despite the fact that the 23-year-old graduate stated that she was injected with only 1 ml into both her top and bottom lips, her lips swelled into enormous shapes within one hour of her appointment time.
Jones applied ice to her recently filled lips as a method of reducing inflammation. Unfortunately, this only served to make matters worse. As a result of her extremely painful, enormous “sausage lips” that left her family and friends in shock for the first forty-eight hours after she got lip filler treatment, she was not able to talk or drink normally for the first forty-eight hours.
Her friends teased her by telling her that, due to the enormous lips on her face, she resembled the bright character Fungus from Disney Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.
Taylor Jones wanted to publish pictures of her botched lip filler treatment on the internet so that others might be aware that adverse reactions are possible. Not only are allergic responses conceivable, as was evident with Taylor, but they may also lead to unpleasant side effects that would make the treatment seem unjustified in the first place.
Kailee Jones stated: “I’ve always had thinner lips, and they disappear when I smile, so I wanted to make them fit my face a little bit more. Everything went well at the appointment, and the first hour after, it started swelling, but I think it was just normal because they do swell.”
She also wanted to find a technique to assist her painful lips feel better, so she tried icing them in an attempt to reduce swelling.
“I kept icing them, and I think that the ice might have made it worse because then they really started to blow up. Once it hit after an hour or two, they were really big, and then it was 48 hours of them being that big. I couldn’t drink anything or even open my mouth to talk – I couldn’t speak. I would say they were eight times the size of my normal lips. It was unreal. I looked like the Monsters, Inc. character.”
Fortunately, Kailee Jones only had to worry about her big lips for three days. Her lips subsequently returned to a more normal size, allowing her to resume daily activities without the need for further treatment or the cosmetic surgeon to operate on her lip fillers.
Kailee stated: “The pictures don’t even really show how big they were. It was crazy. It was very painful. I was scared it was going to go to my throat, which is what doctors said it could do, and my throat could close basically.”
