Before she achieved superstardom, Madonna was just an ordinary child living in Michigan alongside her seven siblings – one of which being Anthony Gerard Ciccone, her older brother.
Anthony’s prolonged struggle with alcohol addiction severely damaged his relationship with his family, and he found himself in a difficult emotional state. A source said, “Madonna helped to support her brother when he would accept that support.”
Allegedly, Anthony was destitute to the point where he had resorted to living under a bridge in Michigan. In 2011, as reported by the Daily Mail; he proclaimed that Madonna and he “never loved each other.” His own family even regarded him as “a zero.”
After months of declining Madonna’s help and refusing to go into rehab, it has been confirmed that Anthony passed away at the age of 66. The world is mourning his death.
Joe Henry, a musician, and husband to Melanie Ciccone (sister of the renowned celebrity Madonna), recently shared somber news about his brother-in-law’s death on Instagram. He posted, “My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly plane last evening.”
Subsequently, Joe fondly remembered Anthony’s life. He said, “I’ve known him since I was 15, in the spring of our lives in Michigan so many years now gone.”
Joe recalled that Anthony’s brother, Dave Henry, had fond memories of him as “a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can. But I loved him, and understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let on. But trouble fades; and family remains— with hands reached across the table. Farewell, then, brother Anthony.”
Joe concluded his post by expressing his vision of Anthony being reunited with Madonna Ciccone, who passed away at the age of 33 due to breast cancer. He concluded, “I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision.”
