A woman’s hand ended up resembling something out of “Jaws” after a doctor stitched her hand inside her stomach to combat a sepsis infection, according to the New York Post on Tuesday.
On Christmas day, thirty-four-year-old Sadie Kemp went to the hospital because she felt terrible kidney pain.
After the infection was treated, doctors determined that she had sepsis as well as kidney stones. She was immediately admitted to the hospital after they discovered she had sepsis and kidney stones.
After doctors discovered that the sepsis had spread to two of Kemp’s limbs and placed her into an 11-day coma, she was rushed into surgery.
She also endured years of unnecessary medical treatment, such as tendon transplants and skin grafts. During this time, her doctors had to remove all of her left hand’s digits and later sewed it inside a pouch in her abdomen to keep the blood flowing.
“I wasn’t aware my hand was going to look like a shark’s head till it had actually been released from my abdomen,” Kemp stated of the anomaly. “I looked at it for the first time and I moved what was left of my thumb and I was just like ‘Wow, it looks like a shark.’ I have lost a lot through sepsis, my limbs, a relationship, independence, and I just don’t want it happening to as many people as it does happen to.”
Following the release of her unusual claw-like hand as a joke, Kemp has gone viral on TikTok.
According to the article, one video shows Kemp performing with her “shark hand” while pantomiming and lip-syncing to kids’ song “Baby Shark.”
According to reports, doctors will have to amputate Kemp’s other hand and both of her legs below the knees due to the infection.
The young mother has suffered from a severe bacterial infection and has endured several rounds of treatment. Since the campaign began, it has raised over $41,000 for Kemp and her medical issue. The goal of the GoFundMe page is to raise money to cover Kemp’s medical expenses, nursery fees for her youngest son, and assistance in paying for advanced prosthetics.
