Although words are powerful, sometimes the people we love show us how much they care in more ways than just saying “I love you”. A recent Imgur user proved this to be true. If we open our eyes and really pay attention, we can see all of the little things that add up to a big display of affection.

After losing somebody we love, comfort can come from the most unexpected places. Though nothing is more bizarre than feeling like they’re trying to communicate with us from the other side.

A post on Imgur recently revealed a touching letter written by a man who had passed away, months after he died.

The note scrawled on the back of a bench was published on the website with an explanation.

They wrote: “I found a note from my dad to my mom while dismantling her old workbench.

“My dad passed away on February 26th at the age of 51 from a ruptured artery,” Imgur user ButAnywayHeresWonderwall wrote of Mason, his dad. “He made this workbench for my mom, Becca, when she got into metal engraving.

“He was technically my stepdad, but being as how I’ve never met my biological father, he was the only and best father I had,” he continued.

After his father’s death, a few months later, the son noticed that one of the legs on his workbench was broken.

Mason was a carpenter, and he passed on all of his expertise to his son. He removed the legs to strengthen and secure them with bolts as he followed a method taught to him by his father. When he turned the table over, he found something scribbled under the bench on the underside.

Mason’s son was blown away when he read a love letter his father had written before he passed away. The inscription reads:

I love you Becca.

Whatever day this is, I hope it’s a good one. God truly answered my prayers the day he gave me you. I know that these days are the best I’ll ever have, and I’m glad you’re in them.

I’m not sure if you’ll ever see this, but if you do, just know that I love you very much. If there is one thing I want in life, it is to be as good to you as you are to me. If I can do that, I’ll be the happiest man alive.

I love you, beautiful

— Mason

Mason’s simple and touching message brought tears to his mother’s eyes. The family was moved by Mason’s kind note.

Mason’s son took the two planks off the bench and placed them in a frame in an attempt to save the inscription.

The family of Mason’s son states that they are holding up well in the wake of his father’s death and that finding the note beneath the table was a bittersweet discovery.

He had this to say about his parents, “I have never seen two people so much in love.”

The post has been extremely popular, having been viewed over 1 million times.

The online reaction has been overwhelming, with users describing the move as both ‘beautiful’ and ‘romantic.’

One person said: “Only real men express their feelings this way. What a real gentleman.”

Another stated: “In light of his passing, his remarks are achingly beautiful. My sincerest heartfelt condolences to you and your mother.”

Imagine receiving a message from someone who has died.
