A sixteen-year-old boy from Alabama became so enraged at his father that he murdered the man’s planned spouse. Now, Ross McFarland, who is now 18 years old, has pled guilty to shooting his father’s new fiancée after becoming angry that the guy had found a new partner so soon after the death of his mother. The teenager’s father got engaged to his current partner 11 months after the wife he adored passed away.

McFarland confessed to shooting 66-year-old Martha Jones “Marti” White on October 17, 2019 while living in Auburn, Alabama. The teenager was only sixteen years old and attending high school at the time of the murder.

The student harbored hatred toward the other woman because the instructor had gotten engaged to his father, Dr. John McFarland, just eleven months following his mother’s death. He eventually became so enraged that he took a gun and tried to kill her before God was ready to take her to Heaven so she could meet Jesus.

Donna McFarland was the mother of the teen. A scientist, she died in November 2018 at forty-five. She held a degree in microbiology and had been married to Dr. McFarland for twenty-two years when she passed away suddenly. Ross was one of her three children; the others were Avery and Samuel.

Police showed up at the crime scene after Ross murdered his father’s new partner, and they discovered White already dead. Her body was left on the floor of the Auburn house, with a huge gunshot wound to her face from where the teenager had vented his fury on her as she slept.

White was a mother, grandmother, and retired teacher from the Auburn school district at the time of her murder. Over the course of many years, she served hundreds of students.

After her mother’s murder, Elizabeth Chaisson shared a public statement online.

“‘Today, we moved closer to obtaining justice for our dear mother, Marti White. She was a faithful and committed servant to ALL the children in her life, from her countless numbers of young students to her beloved family, children, and precious grandchildren,” stated Chaisson. “She dedicated her life to loving and showing compassion to those who needed it most. To the end of her life, she sacrificed herself to help children in need. While we know this is a step towards earthly justice, we will never know true peace and justice until we meet again.”

The police arrived at the crime scene and discovered that Dr. McFarland’s Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun was missing from his gun case. It was a Smith & Wesson made, which had formerly belonged to Dr. McFarland. A friend of the youth eventually came forward, claiming that he had seen Ross murder his would-be stepmother, according to authorities.

After White’s murder, McFarland married Kathy Timberlake, a retiree.
