Debbie Collier, a 59-year-old Georgia mother, sent a perplexing and alarming text message to her daughter before being discovered naked and dead hanging from a tree in a ditch. Debbie Collier’s strange text message read, “They are not going to let me go,” before investigators discovered her body in a ditch after she had been stripped naked and apparently burned alive.

On September 10, 2022, Collier sent her daughter a bizarre text message along with a payment of $2,385. The following day, Sunday, September 11th, Collier’s desecrated remains were found in a small ravine in Tallulah Falls Georgia.

Her daughter has now come out to claim that her mother had mental health issues.

“They are not going to let me go. Love you. There is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door,” Collier sent a message through the cash payment app Venmo.

The investigator who found Collier’s burned and bloody remains “observed a nude female laying on her back, grasping a small tree with her right hand.” The investigator also observed that she had “charring to her abdomen” and was close to a burned red tote, which was next to a burnt blue tarp.

The death of Collier is being investigated as a homicide, not suicide.

Collier sent her daughter money through the Venmo app along with the chilling message that she would not survive the experience. Her daughter was Amanda Bearden, a 36-year-old mother of three from Virginia.

After receiving the Venmo message, Bearden attempted to call her mother, but instead of Collier answering the phone, it went straight to voicemail. unsure of what was going on, she reported Collier missing to Athens Clarke County Police.

The Georgia authorities associated with the case believe that before Collier was found dead in a ditch, stripped of her clothes, she might have been violently kidnapped.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Col. Murray Kogod stated: “Further search resulted in locating the body of a female subject down an embankment close to where the bag and tarp were located.”

Georgia authorities discovered that Collier had rented an SUV on September 10, 2022, and departed with only a debit card and driver’s license. They followed the car’s signal because it was equipped with SiriusXM satellite radio. The murdered woman was found sixty miles north of her home in Athens, Georgia.

A medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine Collier’s cause of death.

Debbie Collier, who worked as an office manager at Carriage House Reality in Athens, Georgia for many years, passed away leaving her adult daughter and husband Steve whom she married in 2013.
