A normal 4-year-old’s birthday wishes usually involve Barbies and doll houses. However, this is not the case for 4-year-old Norah Wood. Norah had recently told her mother how much she loved the elderly. Norah’s mother did not know that this would be a life changer for the both of them.

Norah had this to say about her love for the elderly. “I like old peoples the best ‘cos they walk slow like I walk slow and they has soft skin like I has soft skin. They all gonna die soon so I’m gonna love ‘em all up before they is died.” During a normal trip to the supermarket, Norah snuck away and approached an elderly man while her mother wasn’t looking. She told the old man that it was her birthday, and he was very excited to chat with his new little friend. After a few minutes of chatting, they both went their separate ways.

Shortly after their conversation, Norah asked her mother if she could take a picture with the elderly man for her “birfday”. They found the elderly man a few isles down and he excitedly obliged. Norah’s mother posted this picture and the story on her Facebook wall. Another member of the community noticed the elderly man, “Dan, and had mentioned that he had been very lonely since his wife passed away recently. Norah’s mother asked for his phone number, and they were quickly invited to his house.

These two have been visiting “Mr. Dan” every week now, dropping off his favorite treat, a cheese danish. Mr.Dan says that Norah has healed him. He is now able to sleep throughout the night without worrying about his wife. This just goes to show that a little bit of love can go a very long way.
