The internet is filled with strange and unusual things that often make viewers scratch their heads in shear morbid curiosity.

This video is one such piece of treasure. The video starts off simple enough with a board on which an acclaimed 6,000 matches have been fixed standing straight up.

The board has the matches packed incredibly densely, such that lighting a single match would cause the rest to light around it, spreading like dominoes. The problem is that 6,000 matches crammed into such a small area and then lit on fire will create a huge blaze that isn’t exactly easy to extinguish.

After the viewer has been allowed to sufficiently marvel at the amount of time it must have taken to meticulously set up the matches, a hand enters the frame with a single match that has already been lit.

The person lights the far corner of the match board before quickly retracting his hand from the flame. At first, the fire spreads very slowly, almost so slowly that the viewer might question whether all the matches will light.

However, after a few seconds, the problem quickly shifts to the other extreme. Once the fire starts to spread across the tops of the matches, there is no stopping the action.

Within a few seconds, the entire board is lit and burning quite effectively. Even though the matches burn at a slow rate, the fire coming from the board could easily be compared to something you might find in your fireplace. Don’t try it at home.
