A dashcam video recorded a BMW driving at over 120 miles per hour that lost control, crossed four lanes of traffic and a highway median in Virginia. The car almost hit a police officer.

According to officials, a routine traffic stop was being conducted by a police officer on the southbound Fairfax County Parkway, located approximately 20 miles away from Capitol Hill, on late Monday morning when the heart-stopping incident occurred in suburban Fairfax County.

A 17-year-old was driving a black 2018 BMW M3 on the parkway heading northbound when they suddenly lost control. The car spun around crossed lanes, and collided with both the pulled-over car and the police car.

The video shows an officer (whose identity is unknown) hastily running out of the path of a vehicle and just barely missing being involved in a dreadful crash.

According to officials, the driver who was pulled over was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to WRC-TV, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis stated that the teenage driver who caused the chaos was driving at a speed exceeding 120 mph.

He was accused of reckless driving as a misdemeanor, and he and his two underage passengers sustained minor injuries.

Officials wrote a Facebook post expressing that they were relieved that no one was seriously injured in the incident. They also stated that it was an opportunity to learn from the situation.

“Parents and guardians should consider using this video as an opportunity to have a conversation with their teen drivers about how their driving behavior can affect the lives of others,” cops said.
