Addressing his colleagues following his unanimous election as Speaker of the House by the GOP, Mike Johnson shared his profound belief in the absence of coincidences in life. He emphasized that he firmly attributes his speakership victory to a divine intervention.

During his speech, Speaker Johnson delved into his perspective on the intricate tapestry of God’s plan for every individual. He expressed how this divine plan weaves its way through our lives, often leading to unforeseen and unexpected outcomes, all the while serving a greater purpose aligned with God’s overarching design.

He said, “I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night; I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that Scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us, and I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time.”

As he continued his address, Speaker Johnson passionately expounded on the profound responsibility that accompanies the bestowal of special gifts and extraordinary opportunities by the divine. He earnestly called upon his fellow lawmakers to unite in their commitment to safeguarding the United States as a steadfast beacon of hope and enlightenment within an ever-darkening global landscape.

Elaborating on this notion, he added, “This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country — and they deserve it — and to ensure that our republic remains standing as the great beacon of light and hope and freedom in a world that desperately needs it.”

Speaker Johnson’s comprehensive vision for upholding America as a radiant beacon encompasses addressing the escalating challenges posed by Islamist terror on the international stage and fortifying the nation against the detrimental impacts of illegal immigration. In his view, the state of the border crisis is nothing short of a calamity demanding immediate attention.

When discussing his strategy for combating the barbaric Hamas terror organization while safeguarding American troops from harm, he fervently rallied the chamber to lend support to initiatives aiding Israel. In his own words: “The first bill that I’m gonna bring to this floor in just a little while will be in support of our dear, dear friend Israel, and we’re overdue. And given that, we’re going to show not only Israel but the entire world that the barbarism of Hamas that we have all seen play out on our television screens is wretched and wrong. And we’re going to stand for the good in that conflict.”

Continuing within the same speech, Johnson stated, “We have a catastrophe at our southern border.” Continuing, he added, “The Senate and the White House can no longer ignore the problem. From Texas to New York, wave after wave of illegal migrants are stressing our communities to their breaking points. We know that our streets are being flooded with fentanyl and in all of our communities, children and even adults are dying from it. The status quo is unacceptable. Inaction is unacceptable and we must come together and address the broken border. We have to do it.”
