It is difficult to understand how a parent could neglect their own kid, especially if the baby is still an infant. Even those who do not have children are aware that infants require their mother or father. They cannot yet look after themselves.

However, we constantly hear reports on the internet of newborns being abandoned or left to others to find. And, sadly, some children are abandoned at locations where it would be difficult to discover a baby. In Michigan, there was an event just recently.

Deputies were shocked to discover a 4-month-old baby face down in a wooded region of Michigan, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Neighbors said a woman was hiding in bushes and knocking on residents’ doors. A frantic woman was reportedly pounding on the locked school doors by staff at the middle school.

The investigators immediately responded to two calls at around 8:30 a.m., which came after receiving two phone calls. According to the Sheriff’s office, the woman believed she was being chased by someone who was armed with guns.

Thankfully, the deputies were able to locate her. By the time police arrived, she had already departed the area. After speaking with the 37-year-old female, authorities determined that she may have been carrying an infant with her. They also observed burrs on her pants and surmised that she may have been in “a field or wooded area” near Waldon and Joslyn avenues.

Thirteen county sheriff’s vehicles responded to the scene. The deputies also utilized a drone and K-9 to look for the kid. The best position where the mother may have been found was estimated by deputies. They began with a one-mile search grid, which included the woman’s home as well as places where people had seen her, and 30 minutes into their hunt they discovered him in a wooded area, face down on the banks of a creek but breathing.

The infant was in a hypothermic condition. The cops took off his drenched clothing and wrapped him in warm blankets to help him recover faster. He was reportedly taken to a local hospital, for further medical treatment and observation. The kid required continuous monitoring overnight and is now being cared for by child protection authorities.

It is uncertain how long the infant had been in the woods. Prescription drug abuse is one possible explanation for this incident, according to deputies. A warrant has been requested for the mother’s arrest on charges of child abuse.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated, “Thankfully, deputies were able to determine a baby was missing, which triggered an immediate large response and search, and they were able to locate the child. Their quick work avoided what could have been an unspeakable tragedy.”

Since the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office published this on their Facebook page, it has gone viral. It was flooded with thousands of reactions, shares, and comments. Some people are furious that someone could have hurt a kid in such a manner; others are praying for the infant’s safety. Others commended the cops for doing an excellent job.

The neighbors’ quick reaction and the deputies’ immediate action and do everything they can to locate the kid saved this baby’s life. We know there was very little possibility that the child would have withstood hypothermia had it not been for their quick thinking.
