Forty years ago, audiences were amazed by the sight of lightsabers and laser blasters in Star Wars. These super-science weapons seemed too incredible to be real. But now we realize that they may not be as far-fetched as we once thought. An electromagnetic gun is now a reality, debuting at the United States Navy’s iconic Science and Technology Expo.

This new weapon is going to change the game. There’s nothing more American than a big gun, and this one packs a serious punch. Be prepared to be amazed by its power.

If you’re familiar with the weapons industry, you may have heard rumors about a high-tech gun called an electromagnetic railgun. But this gun is not just a figment of someone’s imagination – it’s real. The general public has not seen this gun yet (you can’t buy your own electromagnetic railgun), but the Department of Defense has created several demonstration videos to show what it can do.

After a decade of testing and with $500 million dollars of taxpayers’ money invested in its development, the video below suggests that all the effort put into this project was worth it.

When it comes to credible news sources, the Wall Street Journal is at the top of the list. The video below comes from their website.

Naval engineers have been working diligently to create this mega-weapon. And they’ve been testing it inside concrete bunkers at confidential facilities.

We Americans want to see what our tax dollars are being used for. Can’t we have a little transparency?

The Navy railgun can shoot bullets at 4,500 miles per hour using electromagnetic rails.

Even though it is still in the prototyping stage, the display we have seen looks amazing.

This Navy weapon is extremely powerful.

Though it is only 6-inches long, a gun’s firing range can extend up to 15 miles.

The Navy’s 16-inch-long gun can fire a projectile up to 24 miles away, and at that distance, the projectile is still strong enough to pierce through 30 feet of concrete.

The Navy’s most prized weapon, the 38-foot electromagnetic railgun, can fire its ammunition up to 125 miles away. It is also powerful enough to destroy seven steel plates.

The 6-inch weapon may not seem like much, but it’s deceptively powerful. It can fire ammunition incredibly far distances, which has effectively increased the Navy’s range from which they can attack their targets.

William Roper, the Director of the Pentagon’s Strategic Capabilities Office, said: “The Navy is on the cusp of having a tactical weapon, a next-generation offensive weapon. It could be a game changer.”

Are you impressed with how your tax dollars are being spent?
