You may know him as the mayor of south bend Indiana or as the secretary of transportation but soon you will know him as a dad. The 39-year-old husband and cabinet member just had a child with his husband, Chasten. It is not clear if it is a boy or a girl or if they had this child via surrogacy or adoption but regardless, many have come out of the woodwork to congratulate him on adding a new branch to his family tree.

In a recent tweet, he announced that he was overjoyed to become a first-time father & has always been vocal about wanting to be a dad at some point in his life. Jamie Harrison, the current chair of the DNC, tweeted his congratulations saying he hopes that they enjoy every last moment while first lady Jill Biden also offered her congrats. Even George Takei said he could not be happier for this family & Rachel Maddow was quick to point out what amazing fathers they will be.

Buttigieg first became secretary back in February when he was confirmed by the Senate, becoming the first openly gay member of any cabinet in American history & the youngest to lead the DOT. He was also the first openly gay presidential candidate to ever win one of the primaries as he changed the face of politics forever.
