In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a respected doctor hailing from New York University met an untimely demise shortly after dining at a Disney Springs establishment, as per a lawsuit recently filed in a Florida court.
Kanokporn Tangsuan, a dedicated physician at the esteemed NYU Langone hospital in Manhattan, tragically passed away after partaking in a meal at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant on Oct. 5.
Her grieving husband, Jeffrey Piccolo, has taken legal action, pointing fingers at negligent staff members for his wife’s sudden death. According to the lawsuit, Tangsuan had explicitly informed the waitstaff about her severe nut and dairy allergies, yet tragically, her concerns were allegedly disregarded.
Despite Tangsuan’s repeated inquiries, the restaurant staff reassured her of their ability to provide allergen-free dishes. With a false sense of security, Tangsuan ordered broccoli and corn fritter, scallops, and onion rings.
However, what was intended to be a pleasant evening took a devastating turn. Shortly after leaving the restaurant to explore the nearby shopping complex, Tangsuan fell ill. Seeking refuge in Planet Hollywood, her condition worsened rapidly, culminating in a severe allergic reaction that proved fatal despite immediate medical intervention.
An investigation by the medical examiner revealed that Tangsuan succumbed to anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nut substances in her system. Piccolo’s lawsuit doesn’t hold back, accusing Walt Disney Parks and Resorts of a litany of failures, including inadequate employee training and oversight, as well as misleading advertising regarding food allergy accommodations.
Piccolo seeks damages exceeding $50,000 under Florida’s wrongful death act, alongside compensation for the immense emotional anguish, financial losses, and funeral expenses incurred.
