Bullies are human garbage. They look for vulnerabilities in others and attempt to take advantage of them to make themselves seem better by comparison. Although no one likes a bully, these individuals seldom get what’s coming to them because their victims are too scared to stand up against them or put up a fight. One youngster, however, made the decision once and for all that he was through with his tormentor’s continual assaults; so he raised his fist and knocked the bully down, pummeling him after years of torture.

Drew was the son of Allison Davis, the main character in this narrative. For years, a bully had tormented him and he was weary of the mean person’s attempts to harm him. Although Allison and Drew informed the school about the bully’s behavior, nothing could be done to stop him from bullying his son.

The problem persisted and Drew lost all hope in the school’s response- or lack thereof. He stopped talking to the adults at the school and stopped reporting abuses because he knew that nothing would come of it.

When the bully threatened both Drew’s younger brother and father, that was the breaking point for Drew.

Drew hit his bully three times and made him cry. Drew’s school fined him for revenging himself on his tormentor in response to the assault. He was sentenced to five days out of school confinement and forced to feel as if he were the one who had committed a crime because he had reached his boiling point with the bully’s behavior.

Allison agrees with Drew’s decision to stand up to the bully, and she thinks he did the right thing by defending himself and his family.

“I know as a parent I’m supposed to be upset with him for resorting to violence or getting suspended, but I’m not. Not even a little bit,” stated Allison. “I’m actually really proud of him.”

Bullies are a real problem that needs to be dealt with in an effective manner. The best way to handle most bullies is by standing up to them because they back down when they see someone being assertive. However, Drew’s bully was relentless and didn’t stop picking on him no matter what he did. So, after trying other methods unsuccessfully, he took matters into his own hands and fought the bully on the school bus in front of others. And it worked – the bully never bothered him again after that!
