Despite his public persona of being an irresistibly funny clown, Jim has had many dark moments – one of them involving his ex-girlfriend who tragically took her own life blaming him for it.
Before her untimely death, Catriona White – the ex-girlfriend of renowned Canadian actor Jim Carrey – wrote a letter on April 8th, 2013. There is no knowledge as to whether this missive was ever sent or even received by its intended recipient before she tragically took her own life two weeks prior to reaching the age of 30 on September 28th, 2015. Despite these unanswered questions, the letter has since been released publicly.
When White wrote the letter, she and Carrey had already broken up due to her confession of having contracted herpes. Although she asserted that this happened before their relationship began, it was too late for Carrey to have any faith left in her. Therefore, he could not continue with what they had together anymore.
Following White’s untimely death, which was deemed to be wrongful, investigators undertook a meticulous search of her records. They discovered a crucial note in the process and consequently, White’s family has taken legal action against the 55-year-old actor.
After his breakup with Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey and the Irish makeup artist from Ireland, Cathriona White began their roller coaster of a relationship. From afar it seemed like something out of a dreamy fairytale; however in reality things were far more tumultuous. On-and-off for years until tragedy struck them both.
The medical examiner determined White’s passing to be a suicide, citing an overdose of sleeping pills, prescription heart medication, and pain reliever as the cause.s.
Jim Carrey was pointedly addressed in one of the two heart-wrenching notes discovered at the incident site. Subsequent to her passing, Jim acted with compassion and assisted police while also serving as a pallbearer during his late companion’s funeral ceremony held in Ireland.
But, in a shocking turn of events, her family accused him and filed a lawsuit against him for allegedly being the cause behind White’s suicide.
Carrey is held accountable for White’s untimely passing by her mother.
“Jim Carrey should be ashamed for what he did to my daughter,” the lawsuit read. “As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is.”
“I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit the woman I loved or me,” In response to the lawsuit, Carrey stated.
The note was utterly devastating for Carrey.
“You did good things for me, but being with you broke me down as a person, Jim. I was promised Jekyll, and instead, I got Hyde,” it read. “You gave me HSV and HPV. I want you to apologize for it because you care enough to. I want you to understand that however little a thing seems to you, it ruins a girl’s life.”
