Honey Boo Boo, the child star of reality television fame, will be turning sixteen on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Honey Boo Boo, whose legal name is Alana Thompson, spoke to Teen Vogue about her life in a feature piece that was published on August 25th. In the interview, Honey BooBoo speaks frankly about the people in her life, including June “Mama June” Shannon.

The young reality star revealed that her mother’s addiction has been “very, very hard” for the rest of the family. While speaking to Teen Vogue, Thompson said she wouldn’t want it to happen to anyone.

She revealed, “A lot of folks in this world do not realize how many people are actually really affected by drug and alcohol [use]… It’s something I’d wish on nobody, for real.”

She has been, nevertheless, meeting with her mother to assist her in regaining “back on track” so she may return to the person she was before drugs took hold of the narrative.

“It’s something I’d wish on nobody, for real,” Alana said. “When my mama got real bad with her [drug use], I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come.”

She continued, “I want to be the best I can be, and I want to make my money, and I also want to make straight A’s, so I just try my hardest.”

Thompson has evolved a lot since she was introduced to the public as Honey Boo Boo. She now informs others that she is no longer “Little Honey Boo Boo,” but rather a teenager who has acquired ambitions and desires of her own.

“Just because I’m from the South, people expect me to be all country bumpkin, out riding four-wheelers all the time, but that’s not really how it is,” the reality star stated. “But I do not care. As long as I like myself, I’m good.”

During the speech, Thompson also addressed issues of body positivity and how critical certain individuals can be about people who don’t meet society’s ideal standard of beauty in the United States.

“I feel like my generation is probably making it worse,” she said. “Everybody’s all about body positivity, body positivity until they see a body they don’t like… I don’t understand why people think this way.”

She added, “Just because I got a little bit of extra meat on my bones, you want to hate me? I’ll never get body shaming.”

Alana Thompson also made a statement when it came to her personal identity, declaring that she was no longer going to be known as Honey Boo Boo.

“They are completely two different people,” she said to Teen Vogue. “I would say that I do like this Alana now, rather than the younger Alana.”
