Three abandoned newborns were discovered in Orlando, Florida three years apart. And after four years, DNA testing has verified that these youngsters are blood relatives!
The police are hoping to find the parents of these abandoned babies as a result of the DNA match.
Last July 2019, a one-month-old infant was discovered on the doorstep of Willow Key apartments. The baby was clothed in a T-shirt with a letter written on it. According to the note, the boy’s mother abandoned him because she feared his unknown father.
According to reports by NBC4i, the mother’s letter states: “His dad tried to kill us. Please keep him secret and take him to a hospital.” Fortunately, the youngster was safe and taken to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children as soon after the accident occurred.
This is not the first time a newborn has been abandoned at Willow Key Apartments.
The first child was born in 2016. A newborn was abandoned at an apartment complex without any assistance. There are few facts about the first kid, but it was a boy. He was wrapped in a blanket and left on the back porch of an apartment at Buena Vista Point Apartments.
The second occurred on October 6, 2017. A newborn baby was abandoned with a note asking that the child be given to the fire department or a safe haven facility. She was then taken into foster care after that.
It was uncertain whether the initial incident was linked to the second at that point. But, according to a March 20 letter from authorities, all three infants had their DNA samples submitted for analysis following the third accident. And it was discovered that the three children shared the same mother and father.
The unnamed Orlando Police Detective who penned the letter to Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon stated that they were looking for money to help find the parents of these children. The detective wrote in the letter that familiar matches were discovered during DNA testing, which they requested. And as a result, more funds would be required to follow their leads in order to identify the parents.
The detective stated, “Based on the egregious and neglectful behavior of the parent(s), and the bizarre facts of this case, unlike any other documented case, it is imperative to conduct a well-being check of all involved parties.”
Yes, the funds have already been allocated.
It’s uncertain what will happen to these new siblings. It’s possible that it’s too late for them, but the Safe Haven laws are critical for parents to understand.
The tale of these children is further proof that Florida is a Safe Haven State. newborns who are 7 days old or younger can be surrendered without question at a hospital, fire station, or an emergency medical services station under the state’s legislation. There will also be no criminal penalties for parents.
The parents’ legal rights will be relinquished, and the surrendered children will be handed over to a child-placing agency.
