In a pathetic display of political theater, far-left Congressman Shri Thanedar (D-MI) has launched a Hail Mary impeachment stunt against President Donald Trump—a move so blatantly self-serving and out of touch that even his fellow Democrats are calling him out for it.

Thanedar, who’s been floundering in the polls ahead of his 2026 primary challenge, announced a resolution on May 13 to impeach President Trump, accusing the 45th and 47th president of “interfering with Constitutional checks and balances.” The baseless move drew immediate backlash—not from Republicans, but from fellow House Democrats, who say the resolution reeks of desperation and personal ambition.

“People are pissed,” one senior Democrat told Axios. Another Democrat wasn’t so diplomatic, reportedly blasting Thanedar’s antics as “the dumbest f—ing thing,” calling it “utterly selfish behavior.” Even Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) said flatly that the effort was a distraction, noting that Democrats should be “100%” focused on defending bloated entitlement programs like Medicaid—not staging political sideshows.

But Thanedar, a known progressive firebrand, is sticking to the script, pretending this is about principle rather than politics. “It’s not about elections,” he told Axios, just 15 months out from his next race. “It’s about doing the right thing.”

Right. Because nothing says “principled leadership” like introducing an impeachment resolution you know won’t go anywhere, all while your own party is in full meltdown mode over the fallout.

The Michigan Democrat claims Trump has shown “a clear disregard for our Constitution,” alleging without evidence that the president retaliated against journalists and critics. Thanedar added, “We’ll continue to fight until we have a victory, until we remove this president from office for his unconstitutional, illegal, impeachable misconduct.”

But outside of liberal fantasy land, here’s the reality: President Trump has been delivering results. He’s revitalizing the economy, restoring American energy dominance, cutting bureaucratic red tape, and standing firm on the world stage. That’s why voters sent him back to the White House—and that’s what really terrifies Democrats like Thanedar.

Unable to offer a coherent alternative or win on policy, the Left is reverting to the same tired strategy they tried in 2019 and 2021: impeachment. And just like those failed attempts, this one is dead on arrival.

Even CNN and MSNBC have barely bothered to cover the resolution—likely recognizing it as a vanity project designed to juice Thanedar’s progressive credentials and maybe earn him a few headlines on fringe outlets like Democracy Now! or The Nation.

This latest attempt to derail President Trump is not only laughably weak—it’s politically suicidal. At a time when Americans are concerned about the economy, border security, and global instability, Democrats have no answers. So, they turn to impeachment gimmicks instead.

Thanedar’s move won’t stop Trump. It won’t distract the American people. And it won’t win him any favors with voters—who see this for what it is: yet another desperate stunt from a Democrat party that’s run out of ideas, out of leaders, and out of touch.
