A visit to a fast-food restaurant for orange chicken reportedly turned into a political flashpoint after a conservative influencer claimed he and a friend were kicked out of a Panda Express simply for wearing a MAGA hat — and then had police called on them for allegedly doing nothing more than expressing support for President Trump.

The incident, which has quickly spread across social media, is fueling yet another debate about whether conservatives are increasingly being targeted for their political beliefs in everyday public spaces.

Conservative content creator Chris Sims says the controversy unfolded when he and fellow influencer Danny Rebel stopped by their local Panda Express while livestreaming to followers online. According to Sims, things took an awkward turn almost immediately.

“Panda Express kicked out @DannyRebel333 and myself out for simply wearing a MAGA hat,” Sims wrote in a post on X, claiming employees became visibly uncomfortable over his pro-Trump apparel.

What allegedly escalated tensions, according to Sims, was a brief exchange with a cook who he said was staring at him throughout the visit.

“As we walked out, I gave him a thumbs up,” Sims later explained during an interview with Newsmax. “He wasn’t smiling, had no expression, and seemed upset. I asked, ‘Did I do something to you guys? Is everything okay?’”

According to Sims, the employee responded bluntly: “Your hat.”

That’s when the situation reportedly spiraled.

Sims says he asked the worker whether he supported the hat, only for staff members to tell him and Rebel they needed to leave the restaurant.

Soon after, Sims claims employees called local police and falsely accused the pair of refusing to leave — despite the men already standing outside.

“No crime. No disturbance. Just a hat and a thumbs up,” Sims wrote online. “This is blatant political discrimination.”

Footage from the livestream reportedly shows employees confronting the men outside the establishment and telling them they could not remain on the public sidewalk — a claim police allegedly corrected when officers arrived.

According to Sims, officers ultimately informed restaurant staff that the influencers had committed no wrongdoing.

“The police informed the staff that we did nothing wrong,” Sims said. “The woman who called 911 cried and walked back into the building.”

The incident has struck a nerve among conservatives who say support for President Trump often brings open hostility in workplaces, restaurants, and other public settings.

For many on the right, the story feels emblematic of a broader double standard. Political expression is celebrated when it aligns with progressive causes, critics argue, but Trump supporters are frequently treated as social outcasts for wearing a hat or expressing support for America First policies.

A spokesperson for Panda Restaurant Group later addressed the controversy in a statement, saying the company wants “everyone who walks into Panda Express to feel welcome and treated with respect.”

The company added that it had reviewed the situation and reinforced expectations for employees to provide a welcoming experience to all customers.

But for many conservatives online, that response wasn’t enough.

Calls for boycotts quickly surfaced on X, with users accusing the restaurant of tolerating political discrimination.

“One less place getting my money,” one commenter wrote.

Another argued businesses should simply be upfront about their politics.

“If they don’t want customers because of how they vote, at least be honest about it,” the user posted.

Whether the incident was a misunderstanding or something more troubling, one thing is clear: in today’s deeply divided America, even ordering dinner can suddenly become political.

And for many Americans, the question remains unsettling — if someone can allegedly be treated differently over a hat, what does that say about the country’s growing intolerance for opposing viewpoints?
