In yet another example of Democrats rushing to defend radicals while attacking conservatives who dare to speak out, the Left melted down this week after Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) called for the deportation of socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani — a man whose record and rhetoric have raised serious questions about his loyalty to the United States.
Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim and self-proclaimed socialist, has built his campaign around the typical far-left agenda: higher taxes on working Americans, “free” public transit, and soft-on-crime policies that would all but hand New York City over to criminals. To many conservatives, Mamdani represents the very worst of the progressive movement — anti-American, anti-police, and openly sympathetic to those who hate this country.
When it became clear that Mamdani was gaining traction among New York’s far-left voters, Rep. Ogles decided enough was enough. The Tennessee congressman issued a fiery statement on social media, declaring, “Zohran ‘little muhammad’ Mamdani is an antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York. He needs to be DEPORTED.”
Ogles didn’t stop there. In a formal letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, he called on the Department of Justice to open an investigation into whether Mamdani should be subject to *denaturalization proceedings* under U.S. law, citing credible concerns that he may have concealed support for terrorism during his citizenship process.
“According to public reports,” Ogles wrote, “Mr. Mamdani expressed open solidarity with individuals convicted of terrorism-related offenses prior to becoming a U.S. citizen.” Specifically, Mamdani once rapped, *‘Free the Holy Land Five / My guys.’* The “Holy Land Five” were convicted in 2008 of funneling money to Hamas — a designated foreign terrorist organization.
Ogles argued that such comments cannot simply be dismissed as “free speech.” “If an individual publicly glorifies a group convicted of financing terrorism,” he explained, “it is entirely appropriate for federal authorities to inquire whether that individual engaged in non-public forms of support such as organizational affiliation, fundraising, or advocacy.”
That’s when Democrats, predictably, lost their minds. Instead of showing concern that a major-city mayoral candidate had expressed sympathy for convicted terrorists, they rushed to protect him — attacking Ogles with a formal motion to *censure* him for daring to speak the truth.
The censure resolution accused Ogles of “hate speech,” citing his posts on X and Instagram that called for Mamdani’s deportation and included captions such as “Bye bye, little muhammad!” and “DEPORT little muhammad!” Democrats are now demanding that Ogles appear in the well of the House of Representatives to be publicly censured.
The move marks yet another moment where the Democratic Party has sided with radicals over reason. Instead of defending America’s national security and standing up against extremism, they’re bending over backward to shield a socialist with a record of anti-American rhetoric.
Republicans, meanwhile, are rallying behind Ogles, praising him for his courage to say what millions of Americans are thinking: if someone enters this country, embraces socialism, sympathizes with terrorists, and campaigns to dismantle the rule of law — maybe they don’t belong in positions of power, let alone in America at all.
Once again, Democrats have made their priorities clear: protect the radicals, punish the patriots.
