In recent months, Holt had been contending with health issues. In September, Cher revealed on Twitter that her mother had contracted pneumonia and continued to experience difficulties with her health. However, she calmed her followers by letting them know that her mother was improving.
Born in 1926, Holt was an Arkansas native who later became an accomplished actress, model, and singer. In the 1950s alone, she appeared in popular TV shows such as “I Love Lucy” and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet”. Additionally, her filmography includes parts in films like “A Life of Her Own” and “Grounds for Marriage”.
In 2013, Holt’s dream of becoming a recording artist came true when she released her debut album “Honky Tonk Woman.” The album had been recorded in the 1980s with members of Elvis Presley’s band. It also featured a duet with Cher called “I’m Just Your Yesterday.”
In the same year, a documentary called “Dear Mom, Love Cher” was created about Holt. The TV special detailed her childhood, marriage, and career while also exploring motherhood. Holt told the Huffington Post that after all these years she cried from both the emotion of the special and the release of the album.
After news of Holt’s death broke, tributes began flooding in from fans and celebrities. Former US presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to pay her respects, writing: “So sorry for your loss, my friend. Sending you all the (love) in the world. ” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” actress Marg Helgenberger said: “Oh @cher I’m so very sorry to hear that your beloved mother has passed. My heart goes out to you. What a blessing to have had her in your life for as long as you did. May she rest in peace.”
