A lot of us may spend a lot of time wondering what it’s like to be dead but there is a 27-year-old woman in AZ who does not have to imagine it because she actually lived it (or, rather, died it). Reports indicate that Tina Hines went into cardiac arrest about a year ago and the doctors didn’t think she would make it. In fact, the doctors said she had died 4 times but was revived thanks to the efforts of the first responders as well as Brian, her husband. They placed her on a defibrillator and it was not long before she began to show signs of life. But the thing is when she did finally come to, she was not able to speak due to the fact she had been through a lot of intubation. This is why they gave her a pen so she could communicate with those around her. Reports say that the people around her asked what was real and she pointed above her, indicating she was referring to the kingdom of heaven.

Her niece, Madie Johnson, has said that this story has given her faith and she thought it was too real to not share with the masses. It has also provided her with hope and she said that inspired her to live life to the fullest. One of the things doctors have learned from this is, despite their previous assumption that the brain is inactive after death, it actually became even more active during the process of death than it was when the subject was alive. Johnson shared the story on her Instagram and it has since gotten many to rally behind Hines and her story. Reports say that after she came back, the first thing she did was write the words it’s real on a notepad. A lot of people opted to take this as a sign that the afterlife is not just the stuff of fairy tales but many others are not so convinced. For one thing, the message is quite vague, to begin with, not to mention the fact that the image of this note depicts the message as written illegibly. So for all they know, that’s not even what she wrote.

In any case, it does seem to be a bit odd that the number of minutes she was dead for is the same as her age. Johnson later got a tattoo of the note to remind her of that day as well as the message behind it. Reports indicate that the notepad she wrote it in was her own daughter’s and she maintains that she did see Jesus at the end of the tunnel. As it happens, this is not the first time that doctors have observed this kind of phenomenon. Reports have found that back in 2013, there was a study published in the national academy of sciences journal that indicates lab mice tend to have a lot of brain activity not long after they have passed away. They believe this is what is often experienced by those who have a close brush with death. Whether this turns out to be true or not, it seems only time will tell but, for now, Tina Hines does seems to be sticking with her old story.
