Did you ever just get that gut retching laugh? The one that has you doubled over on the floor, crying a river of uncontrollable tears. The one that has you gasping for air in between the fits of sound that’s forcing its way out of your mouth. The types of laugh that spread throughout the room like contagious flu making its way through a preschool classroom. Those types of laughs are always the best and always the ones you rarely get so you have to savor them when it’s there.
A small family on a road trip recently delivered one of the most gut clinching materials that left many in a fit of hysterical tears. Nate and Sharea Overman strapped their three boys in their family vehicle, ready to hit the road with their destination set for Indiana where family members reside. Nate was given the role of the driver while Sharea sat in the passenger seat, maintaining the control and order of the car and the other little occupants in the back seat. Because of this seating arrangement, Sharea was sitting in front row when Nate planted this expression on his face that made it appear as though he had taken a nap at the wheel. To add salt to injury, the black glasses he wore that blocked out the bright light of the sun, also blocked any outside view of his eyes, adding on to the effect of him appearing to be asleep.
Sharea loved to laugh and even more, than that loved to make her family and other people laugh. They cherished laughter in their family because it’s important to laugh every now and then. So before she could think, Sharea pulled out her phone and snapped a quick photo of the bizarre but hilarious moment. She went along to post it into a Facebook group that was centered around support for the professional photographers with a caption that asked people to photoshop photos into the window behind Nate in the photo, so that once he metaphorically “wakes up” he will be able to see what he has missed. Sharea was thinking it was gonna get a couple of laughs and nothing more. Little did Sharea realize, the group that held over 20,000 members, took the photo she sent and ran a marathon with it all in the name of making this small joke, something the world can have a chance to laugh hysterically at.
Members of the group took that photo and threw all types of different scenes in the window, such as Jurassic Park, the middle of a war, alien abduction, and even the end of the world. These pictures went on to be shared everywhere to the point where CNN picked the story up and broadcasted the photos that are sending laughter across the seas. Nate and Sharea’s funny little moment during their family road trip has gone along to make various families around the world laugh. Nate probably didn’t realize his face would be in group chats all over the world just from his wife placing it in one when he agreed to be the driver of their trip. That one decision continues to cause laughter all through homes and family dinner tables all over the world.
