Throughout the history of the United States, newly elected presidents would find a letter addressed to them from their predecessors. Considering the fact that President Donald Trump did not go to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, it was a wonder if President Trump had even left President Biden a letter. It is no secret the contempt the two had for one another, so it is easy to see why many people would believe this. However, in an interview with Lisa Boothe on the Lisa Boothe Podcast, Former President Trump finally answered the question a lot of people were wondering. The former president confessed to leaving him a “couple page” letter to his successor.

However, no matter how hard Boothe pressed Trump, he would not say much as to what he wrote for the incoming president. The only thing that he would say was, “basically, I wish him luck,” which makes you wonder; it took a couple of pages to say that? Trump would not budge no matter how hard Boothe pressed, “I don’t want to say. That’s, you know, perhaps up to him, and I guess he said he wouldn’t do it without my approval,” the former president finally said. On January 20, 2021, President Biden had affirmed that he had indeed received a letter from the former president. It was waiting for him in a drawer in The Resolute Desk and was addressed to the Forty-sixth president. “The president wrote a very generous letter,” when he initially received the letter, “Because it was private, I won’t talk about it until I talk to him. But it was generous.” Neither Donald Trump nor Joe Biden was really apt to talk about the personal contents of the letter. It is believed that it is the only time the two opponents had talked or communicated in any way since their presidential debate in October 2020.

After a lot of trying on the part of Boothe, Trump would not spill the beans as to what was in the letter. The letter will inevitably be public by The Presidential Records Act. During the hour-long podcast interview, Trump reiterated that he was the subject of a “witch hunt.” He also went on to say that Republicans like former Vice President Mike Pence did not back him up on his claims that he had the election taken from him. The former president then went on to claim that even though the media claims differently, that he did not in fact concede defeat to Joe Biden. He continued on with words about the current situation at the country’s southern border with some criticism. Trump said, “You have some really bad ones coming, really dangerous criminals coming up, and we’re allowing them to come right into our country. It’s insane. And it’s nothing compared to what it’s going to be over the coming months.” All in all, it seems as though we may have to wait until the records are made public to find out what Former President Trump wrote in his letter to President Joe Biden.
