Two identical, ten-year-old twin girls from China recently met each other for the first time after being adopted by separate families shortly after they were born.

Audrey Doering, from Wisconsin, and Gracie Rainsberry, from Washington, were both overcome with emotion when they met each other in person on Good Morning America.

The two wore matching pink shirts and said that they were overwhelmed but very excited about being able to meet each other.

Audrey said that before meeting her twin she felt like something was missing, but now she feels complete. Audrey’s mother, Jennifer Doering, was the first to discover that her adopted daughter had a twin.

She had conducted some research on Audrey’s past and found a photo of her daughter on the lap of her foster mother with another baby who looked almost identical.

Jennifer said that as soon as she found that photo, she got to work figuring out who the other baby was.

Using social media, Jennifer was able to connect with Nichole Rainsberry, Gracie’s adoptive mother.

The two realized that their daughters were likely related. Psychologist Nancy Segal, a doctor who specializes in twins, conducted a DNA test and was able to confirm with 100 percent certainty that the two girls were twins.

Once they learned the news, Gracie and Audrey began communicating via video message. They’ve even discovered that they have many similarities, including heart conditions.

Gracie had to have two heart surgeries after she arrived in the United States, and Audrey had one. The sisters were given tickets to see School of Rock on Broadway so they could spend some time together in New York City.

Expedia.com also gave them plane tickets so they could travel to see each other after returning home.
