In a long-overdue move that has conservatives cheering across the country, Trump-appointed Justice Department officials have terminated Maurene Comey — yes, the daughter of disgraced former FBI Director James Comey. Her abrupt firing from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York comes as welcome news to Americans tired of the D.C. swamp protecting its own.
Maurene Comey, a holdover from the Obama-era establishment and a longtime federal prosecutor, was closely tied to some of the most politically sensitive cases in recent memory — including the Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein investigations, and more recently, the high-profile probe into hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Her removal was confirmed on July 16 by conservative leader Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who posted on X:
“BREAKING: Pam Bondi has fired Maurene Comey, daughter of James Comey, from her job as a prosecutor in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, per Politico. She worked on the prosecutions of Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.”

Bondi, the newly installed Trump-era DOJ official leading reform efforts within the department, wasted no time cleaning house. Comey’s firing sent a clear message: The days of Deep State protection are over.
Naturally, Comey did not take the news well. In a dramatic and self-righteous farewell letter leaked to CNN — her allies in the mainstream media — she portrayed herself as some sort of martyr for truth and justice. But conservatives see it for what it is: crocodile tears from a partisan actor who spent nearly a decade in one of the most powerful prosecutorial offices in America, insulated from accountability.
“I was summarily fired via memo from Main Justice,” she complained in her letter, before launching into a long sermon about working “without fear or favor.” Yet, critics point out that “favor” is exactly what she benefited from for years — political cover from legacy media, insider connections from her infamous father, and the shield of institutional power.
In classic Comey fashion, she pivoted to fear-mongering, warning her colleagues:
“Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought.”
Ironically, that line might hit harder if it weren’t coming from the daughter of the man who ran the FBI like his own personal political operation — selectively leaking, launching politically charged investigations, and helping kick off the Russia hoax that paralyzed a presidency.
For conservatives who’ve long called for accountability in the Justice Department, this is a step in the right direction. The Comey name became synonymous with corruption, double standards, and elitist arrogance. Maurene’s firing proves that the Trump movement isn’t afraid to root out rot — even when it’s wearing a badge and holding a law degree.
As one X user commented, “About time someone started draining the DOJ swamp.”
With Comey out, the message is clear: no more unchecked power, no more political prosecutions, and no more Comey privilege. It’s a new day at the DOJ — and not a moment too soon.
