While millions of Americans struggle under the weight of a wide-open southern border, another so-called “Republican” is stepping up to sell out the conservative base. This time it’s Florida Rep. Maria Salazar, who appeared on Fox News to defend her push for amnesty — yes, amnesty — for illegal aliens, all while partnering with far-left Democrats like Trump-hating Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX).
Salazar, who has long flirted with the establishment’s immigration narrative, is now doubling down on her controversial “Dignity Act.” Despite overwhelming grassroots opposition to any form of amnesty, she boldly told Fox viewers that illegal aliens who’ve lived here for five years — and “contribute to the economy” — should be granted legal status.
Let that sink in: While the Biden administration lets the border spiral out of control, while fentanyl floods our cities, and while hardworking Americans watch their communities transform overnight, Rep. Salazar thinks it’s time to reward lawbreakers.
“It’s time for a national conversation,” Salazar said, suggesting ICE should shift its focus away from long-term illegal aliens who “don’t have criminal records” — as if entering the country illegally isn’t already a crime.
Incredibly, Salazar argued that these individuals, many of whom have ignored court dates, visa expirations, and lawful deportation orders, deserve a path to legal residency. She added, “I’m introducing immigration reform,” as if Americans are just clamoring to grant leniency to border-jumpers in the middle of a historic immigration crisis.
Her talking points echo the same soft-on-sovereignty message she’s been pushing for months. Back in June, Salazar bemoaned the enforcement of immigration laws, lamenting that the removal of illegal aliens with expired asylum claims “jeopardizes our duty to due process.” What she doesn’t mention: these individuals were already given due process — and they lost.
Conservatives across the country didn’t take her latest betrayal lightly.
Eric Daugherty, a journalist tracking the amnesty effort, blasted Salazar and her fellow “Republicans” who backed the bill. In a viral post, he exposed H.R. 4393 — a bill that would give illegal aliens who crossed before 2021 up to *seven years* of legal status and work authorization. Even worse, that status could be renewed indefinitely based on vague “good conduct” standards.
The list of GOP co-signers reads like a RINO roll call: Reps. Don Bacon, Mario Diaz-Balart, Gabe Evans, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Kelly, Young Kim, Michael Lawler, Dan Newhouse, Marlin Stutzman, and David Valadao. These aren’t conservatives — they’re collaborators in Biden’s border disaster.
Conservative influencer “Red Hawk” captured the mood of the base, writing: “I will be using all of my influence to destroy the careers of everyone involved and I encourage everyone to do the same.” Another user, Logan Hall, said it plainly: “Republicans who are complicit in the invasion are 10x worse than the Democrats.”
They’re not wrong.
The conservative movement isn’t interested in more empty promises or border showboating. It wants results: secure the border, deport those here illegally, and stop rewarding lawbreakers with handouts and legal status. If Rep. Salazar and her establishment allies can’t get with the program, they shouldn’t be surprised when their voters show them the door.
The America First movement is watching — and it’s not backing down.
