President Trump has once again exposed the blatant liberal bias infecting publicly funded media, signaling his support for defunding NPR and PBS just ahead of a congressional hearing on their leftist propaganda.
On March 26, 2025, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene led a House DOGE subcommittee hearing titled Anti-American Airwaves,” aimed at exposing the radical slant of NPR and PBS. The hearing questioned whether these taxpayer-funded broadcasters should continue receiving hundreds of millions of dollars annually through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Many conservatives have long argued that these outlets, controlled by the radical left, have abandoned their mission of neutrality in favor of pushing Democratic Party talking points on the public’s dime.
Speaking to reporters the day before the hearing, President Trump didn’t mince words about the need to shut down NPR and PBS. His comments, posted to X on March 25, reinforced his stance that taxpayer dollars should not fund media organizations that work as de facto arms of the Democratic Party.
“We’re well covered. Look at all the people that we have here today. We’re well covered, and we don’t need it. And it’s a waste of money,” Trump said, rejecting the notion that Americans still need NPR and PBS when countless private media outlets exist.
He continued, “I assume their recommendation is to close them up. Well, after they hear all the testimony, I think they’re going to make a decision relatively sooner than later. But we’ll see what that turns out. I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t because they have found so much waste, fraud, and abuse.”
The comment sent shockwaves through the leftist media establishment, as it became clear that NPR and PBS could soon lose their government gravy train.
The online response to Trump’s stance was overwhelmingly positive, with many Americans expressing their frustration over being forced to fund media outlets that openly push leftist narratives.
One user shared their personal experience with PBS’s left-wing propaganda, writing:
“I tried to watch a ‘Gilded Age’ special that came up on YouTube the other day. Turned out to be a communist propaganda lecture. Gave up at the segment about how their candidate almost beat the Republicans and Democrats in an election, then noticed it was produced by PBS.”
Another user pointed out how outdated and unnecessary these public media organizations have become, stating:
“We don’t need NPR or PBS anymore. They used to have a purpose, but with 97.1% of America having access to the internet and news online for free from many places, we would be better off with a better WhiteHouse.gov providing real information directly from our government.”
The hearing led by Rep. Greene is just the beginning of what could be a major shake-up in public broadcasting. With Trump in office and Republicans increasingly willing to challenge the status quo, the days of NPR and PBS sucking up taxpayer dollars to spread leftist ideology may finally be numbered.
Americans are waking up, and they are tired of funding their own indoctrination.
