In yet another desperate and unhinged attack on the Trump administration, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is demanding the resignation of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over a dubious so-called scandal—one that conveniently lacks a shred of real evidence.
Jeffries, still reeling from his party’s massive defeats, sent a furious letter to President Trump on March 25, claiming Hegseth had recklessly discussed classified “war plans” in an unclassified Signal group chat—a claim originating from none other than left-wing Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg.
Goldberg, whose publication has long been a mouthpiece for Democratic smears and anti-Trump conspiracy theories, alleges he was mysteriously “added” to a Signal chat where Trump administration officials—including Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary Hegseth—were supposedly discussing highly sensitive military operations.
But here’s the catch:
– Goldberg has not published any actual evidence of these “war plans.”
– Hegseth has denied the accusations outright.
– No one has provided any proof that such conversations ever happened.
Despite the total lack of proof, Jeffries went into full meltdown mode in his letter to President Trump, labeling Hegseth as a danger to national security and demanding his immediate firing.
Jeffries screeched:
“Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in American history. His continued presence in the top position of leadership at the Pentagon threatens the nation’s security and puts our brave men and women in uniform throughout the world in danger.”
Unqualified? This is the same Pete Hegseth—a decorated Army veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. But to Jeffries, being a seasoned combat veteran is somehow a disqualification for leading the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, Democrats are perfectly fine putting woke bureaucrats in charge of America’s national security.
Jeffries went further, regurgitating Goldberg’s baseless claims, accusing Hegseth of leaking military plans:
“The so-called Secretary of Defense recklessly and casually disclosed highly sensitive war plans—including the timing of a pending attack, possible strike targets and the weapons to be used—during an unclassified national security group chat that inexplicably included a reporter.”
Of course, there’s no proof that this ever happened. And yet, Jeffries—like so many Democrats before him—doesn’t care about the truth. He’s more interested in manufacturing a scandal in a pathetic attempt to undermine the Trump administration.
The letter concluded with more of the same hyperbolic nonsense, claiming that Hegseth had violated the law and put lives at risk:
“His behavior shocks the conscience, risked American lives and likely violated the law. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth should be fired immediately.”
Unlike Jeffries and his leftist allies, Hegseth kept his response short and grounded in reality. Speaking to Fox News Digital, he flatly denied the accusations:
“As I also stated yesterday, nobody’s texting war plans, and that’s all I have to say about that.”
He went on to reaffirm his leadership at the Pentagon:
“I know exactly what I’m doing, exactly what we’re directing, and I’m really proud of what we accomplished, the successful missions that night and going forward.”
Despite the lack of evidence, Jeffries is doubling down on his narrative, taking to social media to whip up hysteria.
In one post, he accused the Trump administration of hiding the truth:
“The CIA Director testified today that he is not sure a reporter was on the unclassified national security group chat that recklessly disclosed military plans in Yemen. The whole world is aware of who was part of Signalgate. These people cannot be trusted with America’s national security.”
Translation: “We don’t have any proof, but we’re going to act like we do anyway.”
In another post, Jeffries promised a political witch hunt:
“The arrogance and incompetence of the Trump administration is stunning. Democrats will grill several national security officials under oath this week. And expose the harm they have done to the American people.”
Expose what, exactly? So far, the only thing exposed is Democrats’ desperation to create a scandal where there is none.
This is classic Democrat behavior: When they can’t win at the ballot box, they try to create bogus controversies to weaken President Trump’s administration.
Jeffries is peddling an unverified claim from a leftist journalist, demanding the resignation of a highly qualified Defense Secretary, and using social media to sow chaos and distrust.
This is not about national security. This is about power. And the American people see right through it.
