In what could spell serious trouble for some of the biggest names from the Biden years, President Trump’s Department of Justice has officially launched an investigation into the suspicious last-minute pardons issued by Joe Biden — many of which were signed not by Biden himself, but by autopen.

This latest development comes after the Heritage Foundation uncovered shocking details about how Biden’s final flurry of pardons were executed. With the notable exception of the Hunter Biden pardon, multiple controversial figures — including former Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci — received pardons or commutations that appear to have been rubber-stamped without Biden’s direct involvement. Instead of personally signing the documents, Biden relied on an autopen — a mechanical device that reproduces a person’s signature.

President Trump, never one to shy away from calling out corruption, immediately declared the suspect pardons “null and void,” arguing that they were constitutionally invalid because Biden may not have even been aware of what he was signing — or rather, not signing.

Now, according to Fox News Digital, the Department of Justice Pardon Attorney, Ed Martin, has confirmed that his office is actively reviewing Biden’s pardons to determine whether they were properly executed and legally binding. “They need scrutiny because we want pardons to matter and to be accepted and to be something that’s used correctly,” Martin said back in April, signaling that the DOJ would take a “hard look” at the suspicious batch of pardons.

At the center of the investigation are some of Biden’s most politically explosive pardons: not only Hunter Biden but also over 35 death row inmates whose sentences were quietly commuted to life in prison during Biden’s final days in office. Of particular concern are the pardons handed out to prominent political allies, some of whom were heavily involved in anti-Trump efforts during Biden’s term.

President Trump, speaking candidly on Truth Social in March, explained the gravity of the situation:

> “The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen.”

Trump also raised a critical point — that Biden may not have even been fully aware of who was being pardoned or why, suggesting that rogue staffers may have pushed through these highly questionable pardons behind the scenes.

> “Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them! The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime.”

During a recent news conference, Trump doubled down, making it clear that the courts would ultimately decide whether these questionable pardons hold up under legal scrutiny:

> “It’s not my decision. That would be up to a court, but I would say that they’re null and void because I’m sure Biden didn’t have any idea that it was taking place.”

This investigation could become one of the most significant legal battles of Trump’s second term as his administration works to expose what many conservatives have long suspected — that Biden’s handlers were quietly pulling the strings while Biden himself served largely as a figurehead.

For Americans tired of the two-tiered justice system that protected Biden’s allies while targeting Trump supporters, this investigation is long overdue. And as President Trump promised, accountability is finally coming.
