Nothing lasts forever, and that includes the lives of our beloved family members – even pets. It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Pebbles’ passing; she was an incredible fox terrier who made it to over 22 years old! During her lifetime, Pebbles gave birth to 32 puppies and switched to cat food due its high protein content for her elderly age. We will miss you dearly, sweet Pebbles.

When Pebbles passed away at the ripe old age of twenty-two, she was already an ancient soul in canine years – a whopping one hundred fifty-four! What’s more impressive is that throughout her long life, she gave birth to numerous puppies. Indeed, it seems as though Pebbles had accomplished everything during her time here on earth.

Bobby and Julie Gregory feel a deep sorrow following the loss of their beloved pup at their South Carolina residence. The world’s oldest dog passed away due to natural causes, leaving behind an immensely heavy heart for Bobby and Julie as they share statements about her passing.

“She was a once-in-a-lifetime companion, and it was our honor to have had the blessing to have had her as a pet, and a family member,” Julie, her owner, said. “There was never anyone who met Pebbles that didn’t love her.”

In May, Pebbles achieved a historic feat when she celebrated her 22nd birthday and beat the Guinness World Record for oldest dog. The record was previously held by TobyKeith, a 21-year-old Scottish Chihuahua – but upon learning that their pup was older than him, Pebbles’ owner submitted the relevant documents to compete for the title of world’s oldest dog. It wasn’t long before they were granted this honor!

Julie and Bobby were grief-stricken with the passing of beloved Pebbles, yet remain hopeful that her legacy will be remembered for many years to come. After all, she is officially recognized as the oldest dog in recorded history by the Guinness Book of World Records!

“Bobby was sitting on the couch, and friends and family started texting and calling about a story they saw about a twenty-one-year-old dog getting the record,” Julie recounted to Guinness the story of how she discovered her dog’s true age. “When I saw TobyKeith’s story all over the news, I applied.”

With the sad, unfortunate passing of Pebbles, TobyKeith is now back to being touted as the oldest living canine in existence.

In 2007, Pebbles had the good fortune to be born in Long Island, New York and then shortly thereafter move southward with her new family Bobby and Julie. She lived a glorious life in South Carolina surrounded by love.

According to her owners, Pebbles was an avid fan of country music.

“She loves listening to country music while she is sleeping. Her two favorite country singers are Conway Twitty and Dwight Yoakam,” Julie told Guinness.
