A young woman was in court over a video link when she learned a valuable lesson in respect. The judge was discussing the numerous charges facing the teenager while she was listening. The judge also asked the teen suspect about the jewelry she was wearing, asking her, “How much would you say your jewelry is worth?” which made the young woman laugh at him and not take his question seriously.
The judge scolded the teen for laughing at his serious inquiry, demanding that she explain herself. The girl tries to convey to the court that she found his query amusing, but it does not sit well with him.
“You just made me laugh. I apologize,” the girl stated. During the girl’s bail hearing, she said that her jewelry was worth “a lot of money,” which the court did not want to hear since it implies she is sitting on accumulated wealth and isn’t struggling to make ends meet.
The judge asks the teenage suspect another question, this time more serious, because her previous responses were so glib and showed a lack of seriousness.
“Ma’am, have you had any kind of drugs in the last 24 hours?” the judge stated.
“Actually, no,” the girl answered.
The judge then explains the charges against her before saying, “adios!” He then informs her that she will be returning in the same way she came in and that her bail has been increased from $5,000 to $10,000. This surprises the teen suspect not at all.
The girl, who was clearly enraged during her video link with the court, said to him: “Are you serious?” After which she shouted, “f– you!” at the judge before turning around to go.
The judge orders the teenage girl to return to stand in front of the camera, so he can scold her for cursing him out in front of other suspects and courtroom personnel.
“Did you say ‘f— you’? Did you say that?” the judge asked.
“Yes, sir, I did,” the girl said.
“Oh, you did say that?” the judge stated. “I find you in direct criminal contempt. Thirty days in the county jail.”
The teenage girl was sentenced to thirty days in jail after she disrespected and cursed at the judge in front of him. This added sentence was not something she was expecting on top of what she already faced potential sentencing for. She must now deal with the criminal contempt charge that has locked her away for a month.
The girl’s reaction astonished viewers, who were equally impressed with the judge’s reply.
“What a stupid ‘Little Girl’ (I call her a Little Girl because she obviously is not Mature enough to understand that just go around Flipping people off, especially a Judge that she is already in front of for another stupid act that she had done),” one person said.
