On Monday, Jill Biden revealed the White House’s Christmas decorations for this year. The display included a gingerbread village as well as ornaments paying tribute to prior first families, including Biden’s predecessors, the Trumps. Jill Biden not only put up a Christmas display, but she also hosted a reading party for Maryland children where she read from her book. Because of COVID-19, everyone wore masks and kept a physical distance from each other while Biden read from the book she co-authored with granddaughter Natalie titled “Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops.”

Jill Biden announced that the White House Christmas display for 2021 will have the theme, “Gifts from the heart.” The act was beautiful and kind, something that every American who celebrates Christmas can get behind – especially at a time when our country is so divided along political lines.

People were surprised that the Bidens displayed memorabilia of the Trumps in their Christmas decorations, given how divisive Trump was during his presidency. One ornament features Donald and Melania Trump while they were receiving their official White House Christmas tree.

“I feel like I should be applauding you because you’re certainly the ones that made this house a home, so thank you very much,” Jill Biden said.

Dr. Jill Biden selected her 2021 Christmas decoration theme with the hope that it would inspire Americans to remember they are all part of one country and unify them during a time when people usually come together and celebrate happiness and love.

Biden stated that American holiday traditions are “as varied as we find the people who make up this country. But at the core of our traditions are threads that unite us all – faith, family, and friendship, gratitude and service, and love for our community. And when it gets difficult, when the pandemic keeps us apart, like I know how tough this year has been, but when we struggle to get by, or we feel like the weight of our lives is just too heavy to carry, these constants remind us that we are not alone.”

The White House is decorated for Christmas with 41 trees, 6000 feet of ribbon, 300 candles, and 10000 ornaments. “Gifts from the Heart” is the official theme according to Jill Biden. She stated that it came from “small acts of kindness and experiences that lifted our spirits this year and throughout the pandemic.”

In her remarks on the holidays, Jill Biden discussed how important it is for Americans to come together. “For all of our differences, we are united by what really matters like points on a star we come together at the heart. That is what I wanted to reflect in our White House this year,” she stated.

The Trumps were given the distinguished honor of an ornament in this year’s White House Christmas display. One particular ornament features Donald and Melania Trump while they accepted their official White House Christmas tree during Trump’s only term in office.

Are you shocked that the Bidens would even honor the Trumps by continuing their White House Christmas display tradition?
