In an explosive outburst on CNN’s *News Central* earlier this week, twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams unleashed a tirade against former President Donald Trump after her nonprofit’s massive $2 billion funding grant, part of a last-minute Biden administration giveaway, was yanked by the Trump administration. The response from Abrams was predictable—full of hyperbole, baseless accusations, and victimhood.
The controversy began when Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) head Lee Zeldin uncovered a shocking revelation: as part of a $20 billion funding scheme pushed through by the Biden administration in its final hours, Abrams’s newly established nonprofit organization received an astonishing $2 billion, despite reporting a mere $100 in revenue the year before. Zeldin called attention to the clear discrepancy, questioning the legitimacy of such an enormous grant to an organization with no track record.
“It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion. That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue,” Zeldin pointed out. The revelation raised eyebrows across the political spectrum, with many wondering if this was simply a political favor from the Biden administration to a prominent Democrat ally.
Daniel Turner, the executive director of Power the Future, a leading energy advocacy group, didn’t mince words when commenting on the grant. He described the situation as “fraud,” adding, “For an organization that has no experience in this, that was literally just established, and had $100 in the bank to receive a $2 billion grant—it doesn’t just fly in the face of common sense, it’s out and out fraud.”
As expected, when the Trump administration moved to pull back the funding, Abrams reacted in a fit of rage, appearing on CNN to attack the former president. In her appearance, Abrams accused Trump of being a “petty tyrant,” surrounded by “complicit flunkies.” She went on to suggest that Trump was using the removal of the funds as a form of retribution, a claim that only made her appear more out of touch with the reality of the situation.
“I have a podcast called ‘Assembly Required,’ and we have been having this conversation for the last six weeks,” Abrams began, angrily attacking Trump. “We have to do all of the above. We have to call out Donald Trump on his lies. We have to point out that an unelected oligarch is doing his best to steal America from its people in Elon Musk.”
Abrams’ anger didn’t stop there. She turned her attention to Congress, calling it “complicit” and accusing lawmakers of allowing Trump’s supposed actions to continue unchecked. She raged, “We have a complicit Congress that is allowing him to fire thousands of people that should be delivering services to Americans and he is now starting trade wars to cover for the fact that he has failed to deliver on his day one promises.”
Finally, in her most dramatic moment, Abrams doubled down on her victim narrative, calling Trump “an early failure” and a “petty tyrant.” She said, “He’s hoping that by attacking folks like me and others that we won’t notice that he has failed and that he has no intention of delivering anything other than retribution.”
But the truth remains clear: this is just another example of a Democrat who has been caught red-handed benefiting from a last-minute, politically motivated grant from the Biden administration, and now she’s lashing out to deflect from the real issue at hand. As Trump and his administration work to bring accountability and transparency, Abrams’ desperate rants only serve to highlight her inability to face the reality of her own scandalous behavior.
