It’s wonderful to read about long-distance couples who have found happiness. They state that distance makes the heart grow fonder. This couple, for example, was forced to live apart due to their work.
Joshua Splinter is a Family Doctor for the Texas Army National Guard. He was stationed in Djibouti, Africa, and his wife, who is also a doctor, resided in Texas, which is roughly 8500 miles from him.
Joshua thought it was time to give her a pleasant surprise one day. He was ecstatic to pack his belongings and return home to his wife, but he knew she deserved better than that. She had been studying hard while he was away in order to complete her residency program.
Her husband, on the other hand, had something special up his sleeve for her. So this army medic decided to pay her a visit at her doctor’s office, where she works as a pediatrician. He knows that when he gets there, she will be in her clinic as a pediatrics physician.
Joshua needed to play the part of a new patient while he waited at his wife’s clinic for an appointment. He was flown back home by military aircraft. It was a long 40-hour flight, but he didn’t care. The difference in timezones made all of this more difficult.
He was compelled to tell her a falsehood while they were chatting. When they were in the same timezone, he would claim that it was time for bed.
Joshua made certain that he captured this once-in-a-lifetime event. He arrived at his wife’s clinic. In a video posted online, he remarked, “I’m totally hyped. I’m way more nervous than I thought I would be.”
He asked his buddy for assistance in order to make this strategy work. One of Alice’s coworkers is one of his friends. Fortunately, the friend is more than delighted to assist with his incredible surprise. “I’m so excited!” said the friend.
In the video, a lady opens the door. They believed they had been discovered, but it was actually one of the nurses from the clinic who had mistakenly opened the door. So, as you can see in this video’s description box below, our friend informed her. He went with her to get Alice.
“I’d like you to meet Dr. Alice,” the friend tells Joshua a few moments later.
When she saw him, Alice entered and said “Hi” for a few seconds before realizing who he was. Alice’ s face immediately showed great astonishment! As she rushes to give her husband a tight embrace, she just let her notepad fall to the floor. Finally, they are back in each other’s arms once again.
It will not be simple for families to serve their country, especially given the current circumstances. That is why reunions like this always have a way of touching our hearts. It’s fantastic to see how Joshua went out of his way and traveled more than 40 hours across the world in order to make this gathering an unforgettable event.
That huge grin on her face and the bear hug she gave him are clear signs that it was all worth it for him.
