Things are going from bad to worse for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), whose political stunt to block a bipartisan spending deal has blown up in his face. The government shutdown that Schumer helped trigger — all to protect bloated Democrat spending priorities — has done little more than embarrass his party and expose how out of touch Washington’s left-wing elite has become.

Even Schumer’s usual allies in the liberal media are beginning to turn on him. On The Daily Show, leftist comedian Jon Stewart openly mocked Schumer’s bizarre press conference performance, describing the Democrat leader as “a human flat tire.”

During the October 6th segment, Stewart replayed a clip of Schumer wildly pounding his fists while declaring, “Democrats are adamant that we must protect the healthcare of the American people.” The performative outrage fell flat — literally. Stewart, mimicking Schumer’s exaggerated gestures, joked, “Good points… not crazy about this.”

But the real punchline came when Schumer attempted to crack a joke about “KFF,” the Kaiser Family Foundation, confusingly riffing that it wasn’t “Kentucky Fried French Fries.” The senator even turned to Amy Klobuchar with a self-satisfied grin, giggling at his own lame joke.

Stewart couldn’t resist tearing into it. “Who is that joke even for? Six-year-olds who watch C-SPAN? What the [bleep] are you doing?!” the comedian shouted, adding that Schumer’s awkward humor made him look more like a “grandfather at Thanksgiving who doesn’t understand the Wi-Fi password” than a national leader.

The mockery from one of the left’s favorite entertainers underscores just how badly Schumer’s strategy has backfired. Instead of looking like a principled statesman, he’s coming across as a confused relic — flailing in front of cameras while the country’s business grinds to a halt.

Meanwhile, President Trump has seized the opportunity to hammer home a key point: Schumer’s shutdown isn’t about protecting American healthcare — it’s about forcing taxpayers to subsidize medical care for illegal immigrants.

“We want great healthcare for people,” Trump said during a Monday press conference. “We don’t want to give the money away to other people that come pouring into our country. We have a negotiation going on right now with the Democrats that could lead to very good things — with regard to healthcare.”

That direct, America-first message has resonated with voters who are sick of footing the bill for Washington’s reckless spending and open-borders agenda.

Schumer, in typical fashion, rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a furious denial, insisting, “THIS ISN’T TRUE!” and claiming Democrats just want to “deliver lower costs and better healthcare for the American people.” But Republicans have already laid out evidence showing that Democrat proposals would expand coverage for illegal migrants while raising costs for working families.

As the shutdown drags on, Schumer’s credibility continues to sink. Even his friends in the media can’t save him from his own incompetence.

And if Jon Stewart — a man who built his career defending liberal politics — is now roasting Schumer as a “human flat tire,” it’s clear that even the left is running out of air trying to prop him up.
