Many people wished to give free meals if given the opportunity. But when this lunch lady fed students in need but lost her job,
Bonnie Kimball is a lunch lady at Mascoma Valley Regional High School in Cannan, New Hampshire. Free meals are provided in this school for nearly a third of the students. Daily entrees, fruit, vegetables, and milk are among the free meal choices. They also have a la carte items like sports drinks, chips, and other goodies that youngsters would enjoy.
On March 28, 2019, Kimball was going about her business that day when a student approached her and informed her that he would be unable to pay for his lunch. Any employee would have simply asked the boy to leave, but not Kimball. She wanted to assist him so instead of turning him away, she let him take food and paid for it later.
The kid, after receiving the $8 from his mother, went back to pay for what he owed on the previous day.
So, in conclusion, the meal was not provided for free. She simply permits the youngster to have a bite since going half-day without food on your stomach will not make you feel well. Kimball only wanted to assist. However, a district manager was present to observe what happened.
This went unnoticed, but not in the most favorable light. Rather than praising Kimball for her generosity, the school board met to terminate her instead.
Doing good for others is not a crime. As a result, Kimball decided to put her experience online and expose it to the world. She got what she was aiming for with her post.
When her essay received widespread attention, the school superintendent, Amanda Isabella, began to receive complaints from parents. Her inbox was filled with hate e-mails. However, she claimed that she had no say in the matter of firing the lunch lady.
Miss Quesada believes that rather than placing the burden on the vendor, institutions should hold the workers accountable. As a result, she had no trouble deciding to fire Bonnie Kimball.
The school board decided to rehire Kimball, citing the negative criticism they had received. They even offered to pay her back wages. But she declined the offer. She felt that the school didn’t care about her and was only doing this because they wanted to escape the bad publicity they were receiving. Schooling’s public image isn’t enhanced by bad press.
She added that she was explicitly instructed not to attract attention to a student who could not pay for their meal during her training. And, as she did what she had been taught to do, she got in trouble instead. She maintained that it saddens her how much the situation has harmed her career. A decent person would have done the same thing that she did, according to her opinion.
Bonnie Kimball had a strong desire to see her children fed and nourished, but no one wants to watch their child go hungry. Bonnie Kimball is one of these people, with a big heart in particular for youngsters.
