Brandon Gill. In a viral moment that has left conservatives cheering and Democrats scrambling, Gill pressed Johnson on why he consistently prioritizes illegal immigrants over hardworking American citizens—and the mayor had nothing but weak, evasive answers.
The showdown began with Gill laying out the undeniable facts: Johnson’s administration has gone out of its way to reward illegal aliens with taxpayer-funded benefits, while crime, homelessness, and economic decay continue to plague the people of Chicago. And yet, when faced with simple yes-or-no questions, the mayor could barely string together a coherent response.
Gill opened by questioning why Johnson has actively supported giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, a policy that undermines election integrity and public safety. Rather than answering directly, Johnson tried to hide behind tired rhetoric about Chicago being a “welcoming city.” Gill cut him off immediately. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Johnson’s inability to defend his extreme policies continued when Gill exposed his administration’s support for taxpayer-funded abortions for illegal immigrants. Once again, Johnson tried to cloak his answer in meaningless leftist platitudes about “reproductive rights,” but the truth was clear—he supports using American tax dollars to subsidize abortions for noncitizens.
Perhaps the most outrageous revelation was when Gill confronted Johnson about his plan to create a government advisory board for noncitizens. Why should illegal immigrants—who have no legal right to be in the country—be given influence over government decisions? Johnson couldn’t justify it.
