Reverend Al Sharpton divorced his wife, Kathy Jordan, seventeen years ago. Although his love life has not been perfect since then, he was unable to find love in the arms of his spouse. Now, according to leaked court papers, Sharpton has chosen to file divorce papers and officially conclude their lengthy connection, which began after they met in the 1970s.
Now, reports are flying that Sharpton may be willing to marry his younger partner, Aisha McShaw, 42, whom he met in 2013.
In the 1970s, James Brown’s background singer Jordan and Al Sharpton first met. As a background vocalist for legendary performer James Brown, Jordan was working at the time. They dated for a few years before getting married in 1980, and they had two daughters together. They were married until their divorce in 2004.
Since they were split up, Sharpton, the creator of The National Action Network, began dating McShaw, who is 23 years his junior. In 2013, McShaw informed those at the New York County Democratic Committee Award Ceremony that she was Sharpton’s “girlfriend,” making their first public appearance.
Following the death of Freddy, Sharpton was criticized by the press for maintaining a relationship while still being married to Jordan. Despite being separated from his wife for nine years, he refused to allow his love life to detract from his public image. It was reported that he stated to Noerdlinger, “Rachel, I’m not announcing an engagement or a marriage. Don’t I have a right to date when my marriage has been over for a decade?”
Sharpton’s initial relationship with McShaw was as a “stylist.” According to her website, she began her fashion career as a stylist styling housewives, corporate women, celebrities, and attending many red carpet events. She has a passion for fashion and says that she “began her fashion journey as a stylist, styling housewives, corporate women, celebrities, and attending numerous red carpet events herself.”

After coming forward as Sharpton’s girlfriend, McShaw enjoyed the perks of Sharpton’s attention. She was a guest at the White House in 2014, where she dined with the Obamas during François Hollande’s visit. She was also a guest at the popular White House Correspondents dinner in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Following his filing for divorce, reports are circulating regarding Sharpton’s love life with McShaw. Is Sharpton ready to move on from Jordan and marry his teenage girlfriend? Or is he doing it because of other reasons?
