The human eyes and brain interpret visual information in different ways. When you see a series of similar shaped characters, such as numbers or letters, your brain tries to find patterns. People love word find puzzles so much because it challenges that part of the brain.

A lot of people have great difficulty with this number puzzle. The challenge is supposed to be simple: Find the number “425” among the numbers. The main problem is that the puzzle provides a lot of visual stimulation that can disrupt focus: Beyond the repetition of “4,” “2” and “5” in different spots and similarly shaped numbers like “0” and “8,” the gray and black background makes the white numbers in the foreground pop off the page too much and cause a three-dimensional sensation where the background attracts the most focus because it looks like it’s off at a distance.

The numbers become more difficult to focus on because the eyes constantly want to shift to the background. The yellow question is an additional distraction.

How do you find the number? Look for the “4” first and then try to see where “2” and “5” line up next to it in a straight horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. Of course, some people argue that there is more than one version of “425” in this puzzle because the instructions don’t specifically ask for a straight line of numbers.

As a result, some people claim that there are eight versions of the sequence in the puzzle.
