As parents or guardians, we try to educate our children about our religion and faith. Some of us even had them memorize a few Bible scriptures when they were younger. We want them to be comfortable with the Bible so that they may grow their religious beliefs. The same reasons that caused these parents to murder their child also motivated these parents to kill their kid in the name of God.

Ethan Hauschultz was a seven-year-old boy when he was beaten and murdered. The tragic reality is that he was murdered by his own family.

Ethan is the son of John and Gaby Hoyer, who are also his biological parents. Timothy Hauschultz (48) and Tina McKeever-Hauschultz (35) are his court-appointed guardians. If Ethan did not memorize his Bible verses, according to court documents, Timothy would demand that he carry a hefty wooden log for two hours outside their home. The family has a walkway around their home, which was used as punishment for Ethan.

The log that was said to weigh 44 pounds appears to be far more hefty than what this youngster could carry.

Ethan’s older brother, Damian Hauschultz, 15, was told to keep an eye on his younger sibling’s punishment. He had to ensure that Ethan finished his work and that he would kick and hit him while the youngster was struggling to lift the heavy log. There was a time when Damian rolled the log over Ethan’s chest. He would sometimes stand on his back while Ethan was face down in the ice.

According to reports, Ethan has a twin brother and would be the recipient of Damian’s blows when he can’t memorize his own Bible verses. However, it was Ethan who suffered the most.

He was forced to stay in the snow for twenty minutes before being buried by Damian, who told him to wait there until he permitted it. As a result of the blunt force injuries to his head, abdomen, and chest, Ethan died of hypothermia.

Damian was arrested and denied the allegations. He claimed that he had done nothing to harm Ethan. However, it was he who also described how he buried Ethan in the snow, according to Damian. According to Damian, Ethan was disciplined because he could not memorize the 13 Bible verses assigned to him by Timothy. As a result, Ethan was forced to carry a heavy log for two hours every week for one week.

When Timothy was questioned, he stated that this was a form of punishment. However, when Ethan was disciplined and covered in snow, he was not at home. He acknowledged that he gave Damian the responsibility of overseeing the punishment.

Damian Hauschultz was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the death of Ethan. However, because juvenile charges are handled in adult court in Wisconsin, Damian may still be a minor. The court argues that if they are old enough to take a life carelessly, they should be able to confront charges and bear the consequences of their actions.

Timothy Hauschultz, too, was charged with felony murder and five other counts. Tina McKeever-Hauschultz was additionally accused of failing to prevent bodily harm and as a result contributing to the delinquency of a youngster.
