The June issue of Glamour U.K. caused quite a stir with its cover featuring a remarkable individual—a pregnant transgender man who boldly bared his chest. Online critics couldn’t help but react fiercely to this groundbreaking image.

Logan Brown, the author of this extraordinary story, is a 27-year-old transgender man who was assigned female at birth but now proudly identifies as male. In a display of courage and self-expression, Logan adorned a painted-on suit, showcasing a prominent baby bump, making a powerful statement on the cover of British Glamour Magazine’s digital edition. This issue was dedicated to celebrating Pride Month.

Interestingly, Logan’s journey to pregnancy was unexpected. While taking a break from testosterone treatments due to health reasons, Logan and their partner, Bailey J Mills, a non-binary drag performer in the U.K., found themselves expecting a child. Glamour Magazine sheds light on their unique experience in an interview conducted by Chloe Laws. The interview was carried out just two weeks before Logan gave birth to their daughter.

In her introduction to the interview, Laws emphasizes the unfortunate reality that Logan and Bailey faced online. They were subjected to relentless transphobic comments from individuals who, time and again, insisted that “men can’t get pregnant.” This spotlight on their story serves as a powerful rebuttal to such ignorance and bigotry.

By featuring Logan Brown on their cover and delving into the details of their “accidental” pregnancy journey as a transgender man, Glamour U.K. has taken a bold step in amplifying diverse voices and dismantling stereotypes. This powerful narrative not only challenges societal norms but also celebrates the beautiful complexities of the human experience.

“I’ve been brought up in a very close-knit family, and so to bring a baby into the world in a queer relationship is the best feeling ever,” Brown said in the interview. “I feel like we’ll be able to love and appreciate each other, and my daughter will be able to grow up knowing that she’ll always be loved and accepted for whoever she is. And I think that’s a really important thing for her to be around.”

Brown, the author of the children’s book titled “My Daddy’s Belly: Celebrating Male Birth,” candidly shared their personal journey of overcoming significant mental health challenges during childhood.

Having embraced their identity as a lesbian, Brown embarked on a profound exploration of self, ultimately identifying as queer and embracing the unique aspects of their identity.

During a brief hiatus from testosterone treatments, Brown experienced a perplexing sensation surrounding the prospect of pregnancy, prompting introspection and contemplation.

“I took a pregnancy test and it was positive…it was like my whole world just stopped. That everything, all my manlihood that I’ve worked hard for, for so long, just completely felt like it was erased,” Brown said.

“It was really hard because how do you tell your partner, ‘Oh, I’m pregnant, but oh, I’m also your boyfriend as well,’” Brown added. “The reaction was mixed emotions for both of us.”

“I spent so much time feeling shame and being hard on myself until I thought, ‘You can enjoy this process or make it really difficult for yourself.’ I’m a pregnant man, and we’re very lucky, and I’m proud to do what we’re doing.”

Brown chronicled their remarkable pregnancy journey through an engaging blog and active presence on social media platforms.

In an interview with Laws, the celebrated cover model for Glamour shared their experiences of both receiving immense support from the LGBTQ community and facing the unsurprising backlash from online critics who found the situation unconventional.

Nevertheless, Brown boldly asserted, “We are genuine individuals, living our truth. At the end of the day, I am a transgender man who is pregnant, and my existence cannot be denied. Regardless of what others may say, I am undeniable proof.”

The interview, particularly the accompanying visuals, ignited a powerful response on the internet, with some individuals advocating for boycotts akin to the Bud Light controversy, while others expressed disapproval regarding the phrasing used in the interview, such as the phrase “he gave birth.”

Prominent former trans influencer and detransition activist, Oli London, expressed their thoughts on Twitter, stating, “Just when you thought Woke Companies could not sink any lower – Glamour UK magazine features this ‘pregnant man’ on the cover to kick off Pride Month. Time to BudLight @GlamourMagUK.”

Wendell Husebo, a reporter from Breitbart, described the feature as “an exemplification of the rapid decline of the West.”

Gay rights activist Fred Sargeant tweeted, “So, a pregnant straight woman on @GlamourMagUK’s Pride Month cover. That actually makes complete sense in today’s world. Pride Month has become a competition among those who excessively cater to trans individuals, losing sight of the true purpose and celebration behind Pride.”

Piers Morgan reacted by questioning, “Living proof of what? Logan is a biologically female individual who became pregnant, much like hundreds of millions of biologically female individuals do each year… Why are you presenting this as a man getting pregnant, which is biologically impossible?”

Author Helen Joyce pointedly responded, stating, “Every single baby ever born was gestated within a woman’s body. However, it seems that only one way guarantees a magazine cover for this everyday miracle.”

Conservative influencer Classically Abby expressed her thoughts, saying, “Hey, look, a pregnant woman with an elective mastectomy who cannot breastfeed her child because she’s cosplaying as a man.”

Abigail Monroe, the communications director for Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), shared a photo of Brown’s upcoming book and wrote, “A biological woman is pregnant but believes she’s a man and wrote this book. The elites and media applaud it like trained seals. Isn’t anyone brave enough to pause and say, ‘Wait. This is insane?'”

In a sarcastic tone, author Dr. Jebra Faushay tweeted along with a Glamour U.K. TikTok video featuring Brown, “To answer the question ‘What is a woman?’ I think we first need to understand that a woman can be a man who is no longer a woman but can get pregnant like a woman but is a man.”

Deborah Joseph, GLAMOUR’s European Editorial Director, expressed in a statement obtained by the Intercept, “When we initially met Logan and heard his remarkable story, we were profoundly inspired by his strength and courage. We knew he would be the perfect cover star for our June Pride issue, embodying empowerment, inclusivity, and equality.”

Joseph continued, “Logan and his partner Bailey bringing their beautiful baby into the world is a testament to love and acceptance—qualities that we are often reminded the world could use more of.”

Introducing the Pride issue, the fashion magazine emphasized the focus on “the allyship that exists between women (cisgender or not) and transgender individuals, sharing experiences such as pregnancy, healthcare, and childbirth—topics that are not frequently discussed concerning the transgender community.”
