With a heavy heart, it is with great sorrow that we report the passing of Austin Majors at the young age of 27 while staying in a Los Angeles homeless facility. The former star of NYPD Blue was widely beloved by many fans and friends who are deeply saddened by his death.

Reports indicate that the previous child actor passed away Saturday night, and potentially overdosed on a fatal dosage of fentanyl, according to TMZ.

Today, a thorough post-mortem of Majors’ body is planned to be performed and the results of toxicology tests will potentially be available in the upcoming months.

The family issued a statement that read: “[Austin] was a loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being. Austin took great joy and pride in his acting career. He was an active Eagle Scout and graduated Salutatorian in High School. He went on to graduate from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a passion of directing and music producing.”

“Austin’s younger sister Kali says her fondest memories with Austin were growing up on set with him, volunteering at events with “Kids With A Cause,” and backpacking together,” the statement added.

Kali is an aspiring actress, writer, producer, and director of the film. She seeks to make her mark in the entertainment industry with her creative vision.

“Austin was the kid of son, brother, grandson, and nephew that made us proud and we will miss him deeply forever,” it said.

On the twentieth of September 2020, Austin posted on his Instagram an image of his SAG-AFTRA card that revealed he’s been a member since this year.

Austin was cast as Theo Sipowicz in the award-winning television series NYPD Blue, where he starred for seven impressive seasons. He portrayed the son of Detective Andy Sipowicz, a role solidly inhabited by Dennis Franz.

In 2002 Austin won the prestigious Young Artists Award for his remarkable performance in NYPD Blue, a television series.

The actor was honored with a nomination for Best Performance in a Voice Over Role for the beloved movie, Treasure Planet.

On November 23,1995 Austin Setmajer was born in the beautiful state of California.

In 2013, Austin achieved excellence in high school when he graduated at the top of his class. He then went on to attend the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, pursuing a major in Film and Television production with an additional minor in music production.

While studying at USC, Austin was proudly part of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Since 2005, he has been a dedicated member of Kids With A Cause.

Austin made his cinematic debut in 1997, portraying a juvenile role in the movie Nevada.

After his successful film debut, he went on to star in other movies such as The Price of Air (2000), Providence (2001), Treasure Planet (2002) and Bananas (2004). He soon thereafter earned the part of Theo in NYPD Blue.

He earned acclaim for his role as Theo, appearing in an impressive 48 episodes between 1999 and 2004.

After his successful start, Austin continued to shine in the spotlight starring in Volare (2004), a single episode of ER (2005), and two episodes of Hercules (2005). His efforts culminated with the hit film Little Manhattan released that same year.

Between 2005 and 2007, he made several small appearances in Bye Bye Benjamin, Threshold, According to Jim, NCIS, The Ant Bully, American Dad!, Dead Silence, The Gray Man, and Desperate Housewives.

In 2007, Austin portrayed Will Wright in the TV movie An Accidental Christmas and Hank in Night Writer. His last roles were seen on How I Met Your Mother, where he made a one-episode appearance in 2009.
