Nearly every woman wants to experience the joy of motherhood, but millions of babies are born yearly to mothers who for some reason are not ready to be a parent. These babies usually end up on adoption lists, or being reared by relatives of the parent. Many babies are not fortunate enough to find suitable homes that would provide them love and care. Yet, there are just as many women who are childless, and hoping for the opportunity to be a mother. This was the case of Liz Smith who was a nurse at a Children’s Hospital. She had been trying for a long time to conceive, but could not.

Giselle was a beautiful three month old baby when she was a patient at the Franciscan Children’s Hospital located in Brighton, Massachusetts. The entire time that she was there, the baby had no visitors, but she became most loved and cherished by the staff that cared for her. Giselle had been born to a heroin addicted mother who had abandoned her at birth. The baby became a ward of the state. As fate would have it, Liz saw the baby in the hospital one day as she was passing her room, and immediately her heart went out to her. She visited Giselle every day, and formed a loving bond with her. Later, in a YouTube video, Liz expressed her feelings about Giselle, and stated, “I knew it was meant to be. She needed me as much as I needed her”.

In a short time after they met, Liz adopted Giselle officially, and took her to her new home. The baby thrived, and was given all of the love and attention that a mother could give their child. She did all of the normal things that babies and toddlers do, and she captured the hearts of the many people who viewed her video. No longer neglected, Giselle never knew that she was abandoned. She only knew love. She was the type baby that enjoyed singing, and on the video, she is singing a beautiful toddler rendition of, You Are My Sunshine. This was truly a heart grabber. Giselle is now two years old, and a typical, active toddler.

Liz enjoys providing a safe and happy home environment for her daughter, and wants her to grow to become a strong and independent child. She is confident that Giselle was placed in her care by God in His infinite wisdom. He knew that they belonged together, and so did Liz. She never gave up on her dream of being a mother, and when she met Giselle, her dream came true. This happy little girl was placed with Liz because, as Liz stated, they both needed each other. Every mother does not have to conceive a child to be perfect in a child’s life. Those who have difficulty with fertilization just need to visit the children’s hospitals and see all of the innocent babies who do not have homes to go to. The adoption agencies have many children that need homes. Like Liz Smith, one will certainly touch your heart, and you may be the one to provide the love and security that they need.
