When many people think of farms, they see rustic areas where the individuals live off the land and eschew modern technologies.
While many folks in the country have the Internet and current smartphones, there are many other luxuries that are tossed to the side over traditional tricks and tools of the trade.
That is not necessarily true of this farmhouse in the country. This family has devised an innovative solution to coming and going from their property.
While this gate may seem like a technologically advanced idea, it is just a simple system that can be created by anyone. It is designed to swing upwards whenever a car approaches, using an elevated platform that is pressed down when a car drives up, which causes the gate to life.
When the car drives off the platform, the gate releases and slides back down to lock again.
It does this with a spring-loaded cattle guard that has been used for years to keep farm animals from leaving the property. It works because of several bars that are set a couple of inches away from each other to keep the animals from getting secure footing.
Because they are using a gate that is designed for sheep and cows, they are now able to keep their livestock from escaping while saving themselves from having to open the gate.
In addition, the farmers have stated that their animals actually get really scared when they see the gate moving which has kept their cattle away from the gate completely.
