In a chaotic display of left-wing media antics, MSNBC’s *Morning Joe* host Mika Brzezinski was forced to apologize live on air after her guest, *The Atlantic*’s David Frum, launched a baseless and mean-spirited tirade against Fox News host and Trump ally Pete Hegseth.

Hegseth, a decorated combat veteran with an Ivy League education, has been a prominent figure in conservative media and is reportedly a top pick for Secretary of Defense in a potential Trump second term. Despite his accomplishments, the left-wing media has seized on old, unsubstantiated allegations about his personal life, including claims of a drinking problem that even President Trump has dismissed as irrelevant.

David Frum, known for his staunch opposition to Trump and his administration, took the opportunity to sling mud at Hegseth during a December 4 broadcast. In what can only be described as a cheap shot, Frum mocked Hegseth’s alleged drinking habits, saying, “If you’re too drunk for Fox News, you’re very, very drunk indeed.”

But Frum didn’t stop there. He dredged up an unrelated anecdote from 1989 about the late Senator John Tower, who faced similar accusations when President George H.W. Bush nominated him for Secretary of Defense. Using the outdated story to smear Hegseth, Frum quipped, “You don’t want to think that our moral standards have declined so much that you can say: Let’s take all the drinking, all the sex-posting, subtract any knowledge of defense, subtract any leadership, and there is your next Secretary of Defense for the 21st century.”

The attack wasn’t just unprovoked—it was also devoid of evidence. Hegseth’s record as a patriot and leader stands in stark contrast to the smear campaign Frum attempted to perpetuate.

Frum’s remarks were so out of line that Brzezinski had to backtrack on air later in the show. Her apology, however, did little to mask the bias that permeates MSNBC’s programming. “The comment was a little too flippant for this moment that we’re in,” Brzezinski said. “We just want to make that clear. There’s a lot of good people that work at Fox News who care about Pete Hegseth, and we want to leave it at that.”

This incident underscores the broader issue of how the liberal media weaponizes unverified claims to attack conservative figures. Hegseth’s contributions as a veteran and his steadfast support for Trump’s America First agenda make him a target for those who loathe the former president and his allies.

The irony here is thick. While Frum and his ilk rail against Hegseth’s qualifications, they ignore his deep commitment to service and leadership. If this is the left’s standard for “criticism,” it’s no wonder their credibility continues to crumble.

As conservatives, we see through the smoke and mirrors. Pete Hegseth represents the values of hard work, patriotism, and courage—qualities that no amount of MSNBC slander can diminish. If President Trump sees him as the right man to lead the Department of Defense, it’s because Hegseth has earned that trust, not because he caters to the swamp’s approval.
