Farouk James is an 8-year-old boy with a big heart who has been kicked out of his school’s educational program because he has long hair. His mother was shocked to learn that her little boy was not allowed to get his education because his hair was big and broke the school’s old rules.
Is it possible that someone’s hair is holding them back in today’s society? That is the case for Farouk James. Because this youngster has non-gendered hair, he was unable to get an education. His mother is now on a campaign to have the school change its outdated rule so her son can learn with his classmates in class.
Farouk is not only getting an education but he’s also pursued a career as a child model. His Instagram account has hundreds of thousands of followers because his waist-length hair is incredible—however, his mother Bonnie fears he may have to chop it all off. It evidently goes against the rules at his school in the United Kingdom.
Bonnie James is a big believer in pursuing your ambitions, and she will not allow her son’s hair to hold him back from achieving his goals. She has already made steps toward changing the school’s policy so that boys like Farouk can get an education without their hair affecting them negatively.
Not only was Farouk honored with the ‘People’s Award for Courage’ by L’Oreal Paris UK, but his mother received the same recognition. This is a momentous achievement not just for James, but also provides hope to other children who might be experiencing similar issues at school.
Although it has taken some time to resolve this issue, Bonnie James remains optimistic that things will work out. She knows her son is an intelligent boy who wants to learn and live his best life-she doesn’t want his hair holding him back.
Will be able to continue his education, Will Farouk James will have to do anything drastic with his waist-length, magnificent mane of hair in order to get an education? We’ll have to wait and see what the future has in store for this child, and we hope he can continue pursuing his goals.
The London Oratory School was one of the schools that refused to admit Farouk. Although Bonnie’s other kid, a 23-year-old son, used to attend the school when he was old enough, they wouldn’t allow him to rock his long hair in class.
When a complaint was made, the London Oratory School revealed that her other son’s hair had been a problem for them. They informed Bonnie that she had cut the boy’s hair “too short.” Her younger son is now unable to learn since his hair is “too long.”
“We’re getting a real team together and calling it the Mane Generation,” Bonnie stated. “We’re going to fight this until these rules get changed. And it’s globally, not just domestically in the U.K.”
