Far-left firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is fuming—and in typical AOC fashion, she took to the cameras to vent her rage at her own party after Democrats caved and ended the 42-day government shutdown. In a viral clip making the rounds online, AOC seethed over Senate Democrats who voted with Republicans to reopen the government, accusing them of betrayal and threatening political consequences in upcoming primaries.
For once, conservatives and AOC agree on something: Democrats are hopelessly fractured. But her tirade revealed just how deeply the progressive wing despises the party’s leadership.
The New York socialist began by taking a swipe at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, suggesting he’s merely the tip of the iceberg. “This problem is bigger than one person,” she complained. “And it actually is bigger than the Minority Leader in the Senate.” Translation: her own party is too moderate for her taste.
AOC then launched into a rambling rebuke of eight Senate Democrats—joined by two retiring members—who dared to break ranks and help end the shutdown. According to her, they’re counting on voters to “forget this moment” by the next election cycle. Of course, AOC made sure to imply that she’ll personally see to it that they don’t.
Unsheathing her usual anti-establishment rhetoric, AOC took aim at the DNC, claiming the entire party is compromised. “This is a reflection of the party,” she insisted. “Senate Democrats have selected their leadership to represent them, and so the question needs to be bigger than just one person.”
Her solution? Primary them all.
“We have several Senate primaries this cycle,” she said, issuing a thinly disguised threat to her own colleagues. “My hope is that people across this country actually participate in their primary elections, in selecting their leadership.”
In other words, AOC wants a progressive revolution that pushes the Democratic Party even further left—because apparently the Squad isn’t extreme enough.
But what really triggered her meltdown? Democrats caving on giveaways to illegal immigrants. Progressives wanted subsidized health care for illegals included in the spending bill—an absurd sticking point that helped prolong the shutdown. When that demand was sidelined, AOC threw a fit.
Cortez complained, “People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.” Yes—just not American citizens’ lives.
She even compared SNAP benefits to ACA subsidies to justify why Democrats should’ve continued the standoff. Only in today’s Democratic Party could someone argue with a straight face that taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants is worth shutting down the government over.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump delivered a simple, refreshing counterpoint. Posting on Truth Social, he laid out a plan to take the billions wasted propping up Obamacare’s failing insurance exchanges and instead give the money directly to the American people so they can choose their own health coverage.
“Take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people,” Trump wrote.
As AOC wages war on her own party, the contrast couldn’t be clearer: Democrats fight for illegal immigrants and ideological purity tests. Trump fights for Americans.
No wonder the left is tearing itself apart.
