In a fiery rebuke, Meghan McCain has come out swinging against her former colleagues on “The View,” accusing them of slander and raising the possibility of legal action following their comments on Thursday’s episode.
The tension in the studio reached new heights as the discussion turned to the recent authorization of the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, focusing on allegations of improper involvement with his family’s foreign business dealings. The spotlight then shifted to Hunter Biden, who has been at the center of controversy in recent weeks.
Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, is currently facing a nine-count indictment, including three felonies, for allegedly failing to pay over $1 million in taxes while living a lavish lifestyle over four years. The 56-page indictment, authored by special counsel David Weiss from the Central District of California, has raised questions about the Biden family’s financial dealings.
“The View” hosts seized the opportunity to discuss Hunter Biden’s alleged influence-peddling, where he is accused of leveraging his family name for personal gain in various business endeavors. Co-host Ana Navarro, however, argued that this practice is commonplace in the political landscape of Washington, D.C.
“Did Hunter Biden engage in influence-peddling due to his last name? Yes, he did,” Navarro candidly admitted. “But let’s be honest, many prominent figures in Washington have done the same. People sitting at this table included.”
This statement left Alyssa Farah Griffin visibly taken aback, prompting her to inquire, “Who at this table engaged in influence-peddling?”
Navarro, with a hint of evasion, responded, “I’m not talking about the present.”
The studio erupted in laughter, with Griffin humorously chiming in, “We just wanted to clear our names!”
Following the controversial episode, Meghan McCain took to social media to express her dismay at her former co-hosts’ behavior. In a series of tweets, she vented her frustration, stating, “I don’t understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC continue to mention me and slander my name almost every week. It has been years – move on, I have. I have never been accused of a crime in my life, and I am a patriotic American. I would never and have never engaged in ‘influence peddling’ in my life, let alone with foreign adversaries.”

She continued, “Not all politicians’ children are the same, and I am no Hunter Biden. All accusations against me are absurd, defamatory, and slanderous. I will be consulting my lawyers regarding the libelous statements made against me on ‘The View’ this morning.”
“The View” and Meghan McCain have yet to provide official comments in response to the controversy.
Meghan McCain, who served as a co-host on “The View” for four seasons, recently ventured into new territory with the launch of her production company, Citizen Cain Productions. This company aims to produce podcasts, scripted, unscripted, and documentary content that focuses on female-led and American stories. The inaugural project, the “Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat” podcast, is already making waves in the podcasting world.
McCain shared her inspiration for the venture, saying, “I’m sharing all my thoughts and discussions from my daily group chats with friends. Now, I’m bringing it to the podcasting world.”
As the fallout from the contentious episode continues to unfold, Meghan McCain stands firm in her commitment to setting the record straight, while “The View” remains embroiled in a whirlwind of controversy and debate.
